Abstract

PURPOSE: To assure efficient recovery of waste heat by installation of a heat exchanger incorporating an air passage between air compressor and a power turbine on the waste gas passage.
CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanger 4 is installed on a waste gas passage 3 for a reheating furnace 2 to which steel ingots 1 are charged, an air passage is provided between a high pressure compressor 7 and a power turbine 8 and the power turbine 8 is connected with a reheating furnace 2 with a passage 12. This allows booster air discharged from the high-pressure compressor 7 to be heated by waste gas from the reheating furnace 2 in the heat exchanger 4, and then, fed into the power turbine 8. Driving a generator 11 and low- and high-pressure turbines 6, 7, the air is fed into the reheating furnace 2 as combustion air, with waste energy recovered as electric power with a high efficiency. Connection of a waste heat boiler 13 would produce greater efficiency
