Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover the heat energy in exhuast gas in high efficiency resulting from coke extinguishing process, by cooling red-hot coke by a specific fuel gas then recovering the sensible heat in the resulting high temperature fuel gas through an exhaust heat boiler to use the heat energy for gas turbine operation.
CONSTITUTION: Red-hot coke 1 discharged from a coke over is fed into a cooling chamber 2 to contact with relatively low-Btu fuel gas 3 containing CO2 and/or H2O, leading to extinguishment and cooling, thus being discharged as cooled coke 5. The high temperature fuel gas 3 thus obtained is sent to an exhaust heat boiler 6 to recover the sensible heat in the gas 3, then through a dust collector 7 and a compressor 8 in this order, is fed into a combustion chamber 9 to burn it with pressurized combustion air 10, effecting driving a gas turbine 12 connected to a dynamo 13 and two compressors, 8 and 11. The resulting exhaust gas is subjected to recovery of the sensible heat in it through another exhaust heat boiler 14 followed by emission through a stack 15. A steam turbine 16 is driven by the steam generated in the boilers 6 and 14, operating a dynamo 17, thus generating electric power.
