Abstract
PURPOSE:A band steel guiding drum having a plurality of gas blowing slits is positioned below the liquid surface of molten metal soldering bath. A gas jet blows off solder metal which is flowing into the separation between the band steel and the dividing drum whereby only one side of belt steel is solder plated. CONSTITUTION:A drum-type band steel guider 14 having many slits 20 is placed over, for example, a molten zinc soldering bath 2. A band steel S is placed on the slits 20 of the guider surface and a nonoxidizing gas such as nitrogen is blown out through slits 20 to form gas barrier separation between the drum surface and the band steel. Holding this state, the drum 14 and the band steel S are partly dipped into the soldering bath 2, and then the steel is caused to move through the bath. The deposition of soldered metal is adjusted by a wiping nozzle 5 so as to have a constant quantity and smooth surface. Because of nitrogen gas jetting from slits 20 the molten zinc can not penetrate into the separation to come over the steel surface which faces on the drum so that the band steel is plated only one face with molten zinc.
