PURPOSE:To cheaply manufacture a steel sheet with high tensile strength and low yield ratio for a car, etc. by hot rolling steel, at specified finish and coiling temps., contg. a specified amt. of C, Si, Mn, S and sol. Al or further contg. one or more out of Zr, Ca and rare earth elements. CONSTITUTION:Steel contg. C; 0.01-0.08%, Si; 1-3%, Mn; 1.5-4%, S <= 0.015% and sol. Al; 0.01-0.1% or further contg. one or more out of Zr; 0.01- 0.1%, Ca; 0.0002-0.01% and rare earth elements; 0.01-0.1% is hot rolled at a finish temp. above the Ar3 point and a coiling temp. below 550 deg.C to obtain a high tensile steel sheet having a high tensile strength above 50 kg/mm<2> and a low yield ratio below 0.6 without being refined, i.e., as hot rolled.
