Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the unneeded component of a correlation output by allowing a correlator to operate on a component only which is more than the constant level of the input signal of a transversal filter.
CONSTITUTION: Correlator 14 correlates input signal X(t) to the transversal filter with difference signal E(t) between its output signal Y(t) and reference signal R(t) and on the basis of the correlation output D(t), weight-coefficient control circuit 15 controls the weight coefficient of each weight circuit in the transversal filter so that difference signal E(t) will be the smallest. Correlator 14 consists of sample holding circuit 24 composed of switches 22 operated by shift registers 21 in sequence and capacitor memories 23, multipliers 25, and tapped delay elements 26 such as CCDs. At the prior stage of sample holding circuit 24, common slicer 27 is inserted so as to cut off a noise component in input signal X(t).
