Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the tip amplitude of the tuning fork type crystal oscillator by improving the electrode structure and thus to facilitate the secondary higher harmonic vibration as well as to increase the top temperature up to 45-55 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 6-15 are provided to the tuning fork arm. In this case, the same polarity is secured between 6-8-10-12-14 and 11-13-15-7-9. In case terminal 16 is set positive with terminal 17 set negative each, the bending of the tuning fork arm is decided by the scale of the bending caused by the extension between electrode 6 and 7 plus the contraction between electrode 9 and 10. Thus, the tip amplitude is decided for the tuning fork oscillator. When the electrodes are distributed so that the field intensity between electrode 6-7 and 9-10 may be higher than that between electrode 7-8 and 8-9, no deterioration is caused for the dynamic impedance since the dynamic impedance is determined by the distortion near the outside of the tuning fork arm. Thus, the tip amplitude is minimized with the enhanced long-term reliability. Also, the secondary higher harmonic amplitude can be facilitated and the peak temperature can be increased up to 45-55 deg.C by reversing the field direction according to the position of the tuning for arm. As a result, the temperature compensation becomes possible over a wide range with use of plural units of oscillators.
