Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce crystal impedance in torsional mode, by connecting the surface electrode of one tuning fork arm to the flank electrode of the other tuning fork arm and the surface electrode of the other tuning fork arm to the flank electrode of the other tuning fork arm. CONSTITUTION:Tuning fork arms 2 and 3 of quartz oscillator 1 are provided with surface electrodes 2a and 3a, flank electrodes 2b and 3b, and 2c and 3c, and reverse electrodes (earth electrode) 2e and 3e. Then, applying an AC voltage between electrodes E and F generates flectional mode oscillation and torsional mode oscillation simultaneously. When said electrodes are arranged, the flectional mode oscillation as main oscillation and torsional mode oscillation as subordinate oscillation get easier to couple with each other and the crystal impedance of the torsional mode oscillation can be reduced.
