Abstract
PURPOSE:To absorb thermal distortion of a double tank, by joining caps having two kinds of corrugations watertight with elementary plates having four flanged sides. CONSTITUTION:When any of elementary plates 1 is cooled, it contracts evenly in two directions, lengthways and sideways. To the vertical direction of its eacy flange 2, at this moment, a corrugation 5 formed by welding the flanges 2 with adjacent flanges 12 at their top end can absorb the thermal distortion. To horizontal direction of the flanges 2, the second corrugation 6 of a cap 4 necessarily joined to an end of the flange 2 is formed by pulling the first corrugation 5 to the vertical direction for ansorbing the thermal distortion there. Since this applies to every side of the elementary plates 1, the plates 1 never produce harmful stress in their surface.
