Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover and purify lysine useful as a food or feed additive economically, by washing crude lysine hydrochloride separated from a mother liquor with a hydrous hydrophilic organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of lysine containing impurities, obtained by fermentation, is adjusted to pH 4 with hydrochloric acid and concentrated to crystallize lysine hydrochloride. The crude crystals are separated from the mother liquor and washed with 25W100 ml per 100g of the hydrochloride of a hydrous hydrophilic organic solvent, preferably with a concentration of 10W80 wt.%, to recover the lysine. A 1W3C primary alcohol, acetone, tetralydrofuran, or dioxane is preferably used as the solvent.
EFFECT: Easy recovery of washings without disharging a lange amount of effluent as in the ion exchange method.
