Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to produce antistatic fibers at high operating efficiency, by combining a component consisting mainly of a block polymer of a polyalkylene glycol with a fiber-forming polymer component to form composite fibers of specific arrangement.
CONSTITUTION: The component A consisting mainly of a block polymer of polyalkylene glycol segments is combined with the polymer component B, e.g.a polyolefin, polyamide, or polyester, having improved fiber-forming properties to form composite fibers, wherein one of the components A and B occupies a continuous zone including the center of the fiber cross-section, and the other component is divided into plural zones which are arranged in the form of rotation symmetry to expose themselves or extend to each fiber surface, the both components being continuous along the fiber. The component A occupies at least 20% of the fiber surface.
