Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide shot or grit for shot blast having an excellent hardness, dust collected from oxygen blow smelting is filtered to separate fine particles, crushed to remove scale and slag components, and then the resultant granules are selected. CONSTITUTION:Dust collected from oxygen blow smelting furnace is filtered to remove fine particles, then the medium sized dust granules greater than a specified grain is treated by a wet-pulverizer to remove impurities such as the surface scale and slag layers by selective crushing. The resultant, 74 mu metal iron granules are dried without oxydizing and selected into spherical iron grain shot and irregular iron grain grit by means of special classifier such as shaking table or rotary disk separator. The hardness of such shot and grit is Hv>400, providing an excellent descaling and roughning capability against steel surface.
