Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove SOx in rotary kiln exhaust gas without requiring special equipment, etc. by charging raw pellets based on iron-contg. dust, fine iron ore, or the like and coarse granules of a desulfurizing material such as calcined lime or calcined dolomite onto a continuously moving grate and by contacting them to the exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: Raw pellets based on iron-contg. dust, fine iron ore, or the like and 5W25mm coarse granules of calcined lime or calcined dolomite are charged into continuously moving grate 1 such as preheater or traveling grate. On the other hand, exhaust gas from rotary kiln 5 is fed into grate 1, where it is catalytically reacted with the pellets to absorption-remove SOx in the gas. The desulfurizing material may be mixed with the pellets, yet it is more effective to spread the material all over grate 1 to a fixed thickness and charging the pellets onto the material.
