Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently use a desulfurizing material and enhance the desulfurization effect by reacting raw pellets based on iron-contg. dust, fine iron ore, or the like with the material in a rotary kiln; crushing an outer layer of the used material; and recycling granules of a specified diameter after screen classification.
CONSTITUTION: Raw pellets based on iron-contg. dust such as blast furnace dust or converter dust, fine iron ore, or the like and a desulfurizing material such as limestone or dolomite and charged into a rotary kiln and reacted to desulfurize the pellets as well as to reduce them. The used desulfurizing material is then recovered, and an outer layer of the material is crushed and classified with a screen to return granules of 1mm or more in diameter to the kiln.
