Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture starting material of high CaO content for sintered ore while reducing the amount of coke breeze used by cooling and granulating synthetic slab obtd. by mixing limestone and molten converter slag.
CONSTITUTION: Molten converter slag as industrial waste and limestone of ≤5mm grain size are mixed to acceleratedly convert the limestone into quick lime by decarbonxylation with the sensible heat of the slag. The resulting synthetic slag is cooled and crushed to ≤5mm grain size, or the molten synthetic slag is cooled while being granulated to ≤5mm grain size. By mixing this granular synthetic slag with other starting materials and sintering the mixture, sintered ore about equal to conventional sintered ore in qualities such as reduction powering and rotating strength can be obtd.
