Abstract
PURPOSE: To considerably reduce the number of cables by incorporating a multiplexer in the probe.
CONSTITUTION: A probe 6 is constituted by a plurality of transmitting and receiving vibrators 2 parallel provided in the circumferential direction of a capillary 1 under inspection, a multiplexer 3, a preamplifier 4 and a channel selector 5. Then, if a channel change-over pulse is transmitted through a channel changeoever circuit 11, signal transmissin cable 7 by operating a control circufit 10, then the multiplexer 3 is changed over via the channel selector 5 and the receiving signal of the transmitting-receiving vibrators 2 is changed over. At the same time, if a flaw detection pulse is transmitted through an excitation circuit 12, the transmitting vibrators of the transmitting-receiving vibrators 2 are excited, by which ultrasonic waves are transmitted. The reflected waves thereof are then received and are inputted to a receiving circuit 13, by which the presence or not any flaw is judged. Hence, the number of required cable cores of the signal transmission cable 7 is reduced to 4.
