Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound useful as a durable modifier of perfumes for foods, cosmetics, etc., easily, economically in high yield and short reaction process, by oxidizing 3-alkyl-substituted or unsubstituted 1,2-bis-trialkylsilyloxy cycloalkene with an oxidizing agent.
CONSTITUTION: The compound (1) is prepared by oxidizing the compound (2) with an oxidizing agent (e.g. Cu acetate, Hg acetate, etc.) in a solvent such as methanol, pref. at 10W50°C. The compound (2) can be prepared by reacting a dibasic acid dihalide (3) (R1 is H, 1-6C alkyl; X is Cl, Br, I; n is 2-7) (e.g. glutaroyl chloride) with a trialkylsilylhalide (4) (R is 1-5C alkyl), in an inert solvent such as hexane, in the presence of an alkali metal (Li, Na, etc.) or its Hg amalgam, at a temperature near the boiling point of the solvent.
