Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound (some of which are novel compounds) useful as a magenta coupler of color photography, with simple process, in high yield, by reacting the corresponding 4-nitroso compound with zinc, a specific organic carboxylic acid and a specific reactive compound.
CONSTITUTION: The title compound VI (R4 is H, R3; R3 is aliphatic acyl, aromatic acyl, etc.) is prepared by reducing a compound I (R1 is alkyl, etc.; R2 is H, alkyl, etc.) with zinc and a compound II (n is an integer of 1W3; R5 is monovalent aromatic residue when n=1, and 2W3 valent aliphatic or aromatic residue, when n is 2 or 3.) and reacting the reduced product with a compound III (R6 is alkyl, etc.; R7 is aryl, etc.), a compound IV (R8 is H or alkyl) or a compound V (R9,10 are alkyl, etc.).
USE: An intermediate of novel magenta coupler.
