Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a dihydropyridine and pyridine derivatives useful as a raw material of pesticide, medicine, various chemicals, etc., easily and in high yield, by the reaction of trithiocyclopropenium salt with a specific amine.
CONSTITUTION: The dihydropyridine derivative III is prepared by reacting a trithiocyclopropenium salt I [R1 is (substituted) hydrocarbon, heterocyclic group; X- is anion) with an amine II (R2 is electron attractive substitution group; R3 is H, lower alkyl], e.g. β-aminopropionitrile, β-amino-n-butyronitrile, β-amino-n-propionic acid methyl ester, etc., in a solvent such as methylene chloride, at about room temperature. The amount of the amine is nearly equi-molar to the trithiocyclopropenium salt. The pyridine derivative IV can be obtained by the dehydrogenation of a derivative of the compound III.
