Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a thiophene derivative which is useful as a pesticide, pharmaceutical, etc., and is expected to be useful as a raw material of various chemicals, by reacting a trithiocyclopropenium salt with a thioglycolic ester.
CONSTITUTION: The thiophene derivative III [R1 is (substituted) hydrocarbon group, heterocyclic group; R2 is (substituted) hydrocarbon group; X- is anion] is prepared by reacting a trithiocyclopropenium salt I with a thioglycolic acid salt II usually in a solvent such as methylene chloride, DMF, etc., in the presence of about 2 moles (based on 1 mole of the compound I) of a base such as a tertiary amine, metal alkoxide, etc. to ensure the smooth reaction, at 0W100°C (usually about room temperature) for 0.5W5 hours (usually 1W2 hours).
