Abstract

PURPOSE:To lighten the stress corrosion cracking from weld zone of weld joint steel pipe, by attaching the restraint ring on the outer surface of the steel pipe exposed the inner tube face to corrosive environment and welding the restraint ring each other ultimately. CONSTITUTION:The restraint ring 5 made of mild steel or low alloy steel, is attached and is welded on both sides putting between weld zone on the outer face of the steel pipe 1 used for butt welded chemical plant etc. Next, the ring 5 is welded each other preheating higher than the temperature of the pipe 1 exposed to corrosive environment. Temperature rise of the pipe 1 by heating the ring 5, is prevented by passing cooling medium through the inner face of the pipe 1. Accordingly, stress corrosion cracking is able to lighten and locally initiated crack is able to reserve in board thickness.
