Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish re-use of water containing a carrier and a peeled off microorganism by circulating the water as is through the bottom of a fluidized bed in a method of denitrifying waste water by forming a fluidized bed empolying a carrier having the microorganism attached thereto.
CONSTITUTION: Raw influent 1 is injected into the bottom of a reaction column and evenly dispersed by a dispersion plate 3. Then, together with circulating treating water fed on to the dispersion plate 3 with a circulating pump 12, it fluidizes a medium having microorganisms attached thereto in such a manner as to form a fluedized bed 4 for denitrification. A part of the treating water reaching the top of the column is withdrawn from a line 11 to be inducted into the column again as a circulating treating water with the circulating pump 12 while the remainder thereof is drained out of the top of the column as treated water. The circulating pump 12 sucks the medium with sludge attached, peels the sludge off the medium by a shearing force of sucking pump blades, and finally sends the sludge and the medium to the bottom of the fluidized bed.
