Abstract

PURPOSE:To make display easy to see by letting the long axis direction of the liquid crystal molecules contacting via transparent substrates between adjoining layers intersect nearly perpendicularly in forming the panel in the multilayer liquid crystal display panel consisting of plural twisted nematic type liquid crystal layers. CONSTITUTION:In forming the multilayer liquid crystal dispaly panels by opposing the transparent electrode pairs 14, 14 and 15, 15 having orientation treatment layers 19 provided respectively to three sheets of transparent substrates and containing liquid crystals 20, 21 respectively therein, the orientation axis 22 of the liquid crystal molecules in the upper substrate and the polarizing direction 27 of the upper polarizing plate are paralleled, the orientation axis 25 of the liquid crystal molecules in the lower substrate and the polarizing direction 26 of the lower polarizing plate are intersected parpendicularly and the orientation axes 23, 24 of the liquid crystal molecules orienting above and below these via middle substrate are disposed mutually orthogonally. As the twisted nematic type liquid crystal layers are laminated in this way, the lower liquid crystal layer becomes only the mormal light components and the upper crystal layer becomes nearly the abnormal light components only, thus no interference colors are formed in each crystal layer and the display becomes easy to see.
