Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a copper alloy with superior deep drawability obtd. by controlling the impurity Fe content of a Cu-Zn alloy to a very slight amt. and adding a specific amt. of P.
CONSTITUTION: The Cu alloy contains Zn; 20W38%, P; 0.01W0.10% and impurity Fe≤0.01%. By adding P; 0.01W0.10%, the grain size is made fine, and the deep drawability is enhanced. Since Fe makes grain size regulation difficult, the Fe content is reduced to at least below 0.01%. The fine grain size prevents surface roughening. Because of superior deep drawability the alloy can be used as a car radiator tank material, a bulb base material, an eyelet material, etc.
