Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.ライトガイドとともに使用される光抽出オーバーレイであって、 底面と該底面に対向する構造面とを有する実質的に光学的に透明な基板を含み 、該構造面は該構造面の中に規定される複数の光学要素を含み、入射角θ1で該 オーバーレイの該底面に入射する光の一部が該基板を通って伝送され、該光学的 平滑面から反射されてθ1より小さい角度θ2で該底面から該オーバーレイを出る ように少なくとも一つの光学要素は該底面に対して傾斜して配置される第1の光 学的平滑面を有する光抽出オーバーレイ。 2.前記光学要素の少なくとも一つが前記オーバーレイの前記構造面の部分を 横切って延在する光学要素を構成し、該光学要素は前記底面に対して10度〜9 0度の角度で配置される第1の光学的平滑面を規定する請求項1に記載の光抽出 オーバーレイ。 3.前記第1の光学的平滑面は、前記底面に対して40度〜50度の角度で配 置される請求項2に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 4.前記第1の光学的平滑面は、前記底面に対して45度の角度で配置される 請求項3に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 5.前記光学要素は、前記底面に対して10度〜90度の角度で配置される第 2の光学的平滑面を含む請求項2に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 6.前記第2の光学的平滑面は前記底面に対して40度〜50度の角度で配置 される請求項5に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 7.前記第2の光学的平滑面は前記底面に対して45度の角度で配置される請 求項5に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 8.前記構造面は少なくとも第2の光学要素を含み、該第2の光 学要素は前記第1の光学要素から所定の距離だけ離れた位置にある請求項1に記 載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 9.前記光学要素は正反射物質で被覆される請求項1に記載の光抽出オーバー レイ。 10.前記構造面を被覆し、前記オーバーレイの屈折率よりも小さい屈折率を 有する材料から形成される被覆層を更に含む請求項1に記載の光抽出オーバーレ イ。 11.前記構造面を被覆し、前記オーバーレイの屈折率よりも小さい屈折率を 有する材料から形成される第1の被覆層と、 該第1の被覆層の一部を被覆し、正反射物質から形成される第2の被覆層と、 を更に含む請求項1に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 12.前記正反射物質を保護するのに適切な材料から形成される第3の被覆層 を更に含む請求項11に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 13.前記光学的に平滑な底面をライトガイドに光学的に結合する手段を更に 含む請求項1に記載の光抽出オーバーレイ。 14.ライトガイドと、 該ライトガイドの表面の一部に光学的に結合された底面と該底面に対向する構 造面とを有する基板を含む光抽出オーバーレイを備える少なくとも一つの光抽出 領域とを具備し、 該構造面は複数の光学要素を含み、該ライトガイドを伝搬する光が該オーバー レイの底面を通って該オーバーレイに伝送され、該光学的平滑面から反射され該 オーバーレイから離れた位置で該ライトガイドの表面から伝送されるように少な くとも一つの光学要素は該底面に対して傾斜して配置される第1の光学的平滑面 を有する光分配装置。 15.前記ライトガイドは、長軸に沿って延在する長さを有する 光ファイバーを含む請求項14に記載の光分配装置。 16.前記光ファイバーは、 幅が少なくとも約1.0mmであり、実質的に光学的に透明な材料からなる光 ファイバーコアと、 該光ファイバーコアを取り囲むクラッドであって、該光ファイバーの一端から 注入された光が内部全反射の原理に従って該ファイバーを伝搬するように該光フ ァイバーコアの屈折率よりも小さい屈折率を有する材料から形成されるクラッド と、 を含む請求項15に記載の光分配装置。 17.前記光抽出オーバーレイの前記底面は前記光ファイバーの所定の長さ方 向に沿って該光ファイバーコアの表面の一部に光学的に結合される請求項16に 記載の光分配装置。 18.光源と、 該光源に光学的に結合され、実質的に光学的に透明な材料から形成され長軸に 沿って延在する長さを有するライトガイドと、 該ライトガイドの表面の一部に光学的に結合された底面と前記平滑面に対向す る構造面とを有する少なくとも一つの光抽出オーバーレイとを具備し、 該構造面は複数の光学要素を含み、該ライトガイドに沿って長手方向に伝搬す る光が該オーバーレイの該底面を通って該オーバーレイに伝送され、該光学的平 滑面から反射され、該オーバーレイから離れた位置で該ライトガイドの表面から 抽出されるように少なくとも一つの光学要素は該底面に対して傾斜した角度で配 置される第1の光学的平滑面を有する照明装置。 19.ライトガイドに隣接する所定の領域に光を分配するライトガイドを製造 する方法であって、 ライトガイドを伝搬する光が抽出される該ライトガイドの所望の 位置を選択するステップと、 底面と、該底面に対して傾斜して配置される少なくとも一つの光学的平滑面を それぞれ有する複数の光学要素を含み該底面に対向する構造面とを有する基板を 含む光抽出オーバーレイを所望の位置で該ライトガイドに光学的に結合するステ ップと、 を含み、 該ライトガイドを伝搬する光が該オーバーレイの該底面を通って該オーバーレ イに伝送され、光学的平滑面から反射され、該オーバーレイから離れた位置で該 ライトガイドの表面から伝送されるように、該光抽出オーバーレイの該底面は該 ライトガイドに光学的に結合されるライトガイド製造方法。 20.実質的に光学的に透明な材料から形成され長軸に沿って延在する長さを 有するライトガイドと、 該ライトガイドの表面の一部に光学的に結合された底面と前記平滑面に対向す る構造面とを有する少なくとも一つの光抽出オーバーレイとを具備し、 該構造面は複数の光学要素を含み、該ライトガイドに沿って長手方向に伝搬す る光が該オーバーレイの該底面を通って該オーバーレイに伝送され、該長軸から 約30度を超えない角度で第1の光学的平滑面から屈折されるように少なくとも 一つの光学要素は該底面に対して傾斜した角度で配置される第1の光学的平滑面 を有する照明装置。
