Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリであって、 長手方向軸を有する強磁性材料のコア・バーを含み、 コア・バーは複数の間隔をおいて位置付けられる磁気トランスデューサ要素を 規定し、各要素は、 磁極端を規定する第1の磁極セグメントと、 第1の磁極セグメントの磁極端と対向して向き合い、狭い磁気ギャップによ って分離される、磁極端を有する第2の磁極セグメントと、 コア・バーの長手方向軸と実質的に整列し絶縁材料によって埋込まれる、磁 極端間の磁気ギャップと、 第1および第2の磁極セグメントの少なくとも1つのまわりに巻付けられる ワイヤのコイルとを含み、前記ヘッドアセンブリはさらに、 複数の間隔をおいて位置付けられる磁気トランスデューサ要素の間に延びる長 手方向摩耗領域を規定する構造物を含む、磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ。 2.コア・バーは、ガラスボンディングによって長手方向端縁に沿って接合され る2つの成形されたメンバを含む、請求項1に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ 。 3.2つの成形されたメンバは各々ほぼC型の断面を有する、請求項2に記載の 磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ。 4.長手方向摩耗領域を規定する構造物は、コア・バーに取付けられた非強磁性 材料の面プレートを含む、請求項1に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ。 5.長手方向摩耗領域を規定する構造物は、コア・バーの一体部分を含む、請求 項1に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ。 6.長手方向摩耗領域を規定する構造物は、コア・バーの一体部分を含み、成形 されたメンバの1つはさらに摩耗領域に隣接して狭い長手方向領域を規定するよ う成形され、狭い長手方向領域は各々隣接する一体磁極セグメントによって支持 される、請求項2に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ。 7.長手方向摩耗領域を規定する構造物は、コア・バーの一体部分を含み、成形 されたメンバの1つは各トランスデューサ要素の第1および第2の磁極セグメン トの少なくとも1つを規定するよう機械加工され、ワイヤのコイルが前記少なく とも1つのセグメントのまわりに巻付けられる、請求項2に記載の磁気記録ヘッ ドアセンブリ。 8.コア・バーは各トランスデューサ要素の領域において広い横方向摩耗領域を 規定する、請求項1に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリ。 9.複数の精密整列され間隔をおいて位置付けられた磁気トランスデューサ要素 を含む磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリを作製する方法であって、 2つの長細いコア・バーの各々が長手方向チャネルを規定し、結果として形成 される2つのコア・バーが整列された向き合う長手方向端縁を有するように、強 磁性材料の2つの長細いコア・バーを形成するステップと、 コア・バーの隣接する部分を複数の磁気トランスデューサ要素の磁極端とする よう、形成された長細いコア・バーの対向して向き合う1対の端縁に沿って複数 の整列した磁気ギャップ領域を形成するステップと、 磁気ギャップ領域の各々の内への非強磁性接合媒体の位置付も含めて、整列さ れた長手方向端縁に沿って非強磁性接合媒体によって2つの形成された長細いコ ア・バーを合わせて長細い箱構造物に接合するステップと、 含まれる磁極端に延びる少なくとも1つの能動磁極セグメントを規定するよう 長細い箱構造物の部分を選択的に除去するステップと、 前記能動磁極セグメントの各々のまわりにワイヤのコイルを巻付けるステップ とを含む、磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリを作製する方法。 10.非強磁性接合媒体によって2つの形成された長細いコア・バーを合わせて 接合するステップは、2つの形成された長細いコア・バーをガラスボンディング によって合わせてボンディングするステップを含む、請求項9に記載の磁気記録 ヘッドアセンブリを作製する方法。 11.長細い箱構造物の部分を選択的に除去するステップは、隣接する能動磁極 セグメントの間の形成されるコア・バー材料の1つを実質的にすべて除去するス テップを含む、請求項9に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセンブリを作製する方法。 12.長細い箱構造物の部分を選択的に除去するステップは、各磁気ギャップの 部位に能動磁極セグメントおよび受動磁極セグメントを規定するため、形成され た両コア・バーの部分を選択的に除去するステップを含む、磁気記録ヘッドアセ ンブリを作製する方法。 13.磁気ギャップ領域と長手方向に整列するよう輪郭表面を設け、前記磁気ト ランスデューサ要素の各々の能動および受動磁極セグメントと整列するよう横方 向スロットを面プレートに規定し、共通平面内に端縁を有する2つのチャネルセ グメントを形成するため長細い箱構造物の端部部分を除去し、2つのチャネルセ グメントの端縁に面プレートを固定することによって、非強磁性材料の面プレー トを形成するさらなるステップを含む、請求項12に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセ ンブリを作製する方法。 14.各磁気ギャップ領域に隣接する各磁極片を予め定められた曲率半径に沿う 湾曲に成形するさらなるステップを含む、請求項9に記載の磁気記録ヘッドアセ ンブリを作製する方法。
