として、PE製の電気溶着継手が知られている。この溶
着継手は、円筒状の継手本体の内周面にニクロム線など
の電熱抵抗線をらせん状に埋設し、この抵抗線の両端に
電気的に接続した端子ピンに電源を接続して通電するこ
とにより、PE管の外周面と溶着継手の内周面とを気密
性よく接続するものである(例えば特開昭58-131025 号
公報を参照)。
【0003】この溶着継手を製造するには、例えば特開
昭63-71322号公報に記載されているように、継手本体の
内周面を形成するための形成面を有するコアの外周面
に、PE樹脂にて表面が被覆されたニクロム線をらせん
状に巻き付ける巻線工程と、このニクロム線の両端部の
被覆樹脂層を皮剥きし、この皮剥きしたニクロム線を端
子ピンの下部穴に挿入して、治具にてかしめて接続する
端子ピンかしめ工程と、次に、これを固定外型内にセッ
トして溶融したPE樹脂を射出成形する成形工程とから
なる製造方法が一般的に採用されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】然しながら、上記電熱
抵抗線方式の溶着継手においては、ニクロム線をコアの
外周面に一定の引張り張力をかけた状態で、一定のピッ
チで巻き付けなければならず、この巻線工程においてか
なり時間を要し、生産性を向上することができなかっ
た。また、ニクロム線の太さによっては、ニクロム線が
巻線工程の際に断線したり、或いは電気溶着継手として
使用しているときに、断線してPE管の接続が不良とな
るといった問題もあった。
【0005】本発明の課題は、成形サイクルを短縮して
生産性を向上でき、然も、確実に接続を行える信頼性の
ある電気溶着継手を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】請求項1記載の本発明
は、継手本体の表面近傍に発熱体が配設されている電気
溶着継手において、前記発熱体を導電性シート状のもの
としたものである。
【0007】請求項2記載の本発明は、発熱体である導
電性シートを、カーボンブラックが均一に混入・分散さ
れた熱可塑性樹脂製のものとしたものである。
【0008】本発明における継手本体の形態はソケッ
ト、エルボ、チーズ、Y、キャップなどのほか、サドル
や分岐サドルなどのタイプでもよい。
【0009】導電性シート状の発熱体としては、導電性
不織布のほか、ポリエチレンやポリプロピレンなどの熱
可塑性樹脂シート中に金属粉やカーボンブラックなどが
均一に分散された樹脂製シートを使用できる。例えば、
導電性不織布の場合であれば、導電性繊維を含有する抄
造シートが好ましく、導電性繊維単独または導電性繊維
と非導電性繊維の混合物を水などの媒体中に分散させ、
適宜のバインダーとともに抄き上げて繊維を接着固定
し、不織布化することにより得られる。
【0010】また、導電性繊維としては、その電気抵抗
が0.01Ωcm以下の導電性を有するものが好まし
く、例えば炭素繊維が使用される。導電性繊維の太さは
50μ以下、好ましくは30μ以下が望ましい。そし
て、抄造シートの目付量としては20〜300g/m2
が好ましい。

【作用】請求項1〜4記載の本発明の電気溶着継手にお
いては、発熱体が導電性シート状のものであるので、巻
線工程が短縮化されて製造効率が向上し、欠陥部のない
信頼性のある接続を行うことができる。
【0012】請求項2記載の本発明の電気溶着継手にお
いては、発熱体がカーボンブラックを均一に分散した熱
可塑性樹脂製シートであるので、より簡単に製造でき
る。
【0013】請求項3に記載の本発明の電気溶着継手に
おいては、継手本体に配設される発熱体が2分割される
から、継手本体の両端部の受口のそれぞれに挿入される
被接合管の管端部回りに発熱体の存在しないコールドゾ
ーンを確保でき、発熱体の発熱による溶融樹脂をそのコ
ールドゾーンで密封して面圧を確保し、継手本体と被接
合管とを良好に溶融接続できる。
【0014】請求項4に記載の本発明の電気溶着継手に
おいては、継手本体に配設される発熱体に多数の透孔を
設けたから、発熱体の発熱により溶融する継手本体側樹
脂と被接合管側樹脂とをその透孔を介してつなぐ如くに
強固に融着し、継手本体と被接合管の融着界面での剪断
強度を向上できる。

【発明の実施の形態】(第1実施形態)(図1〜図3) 以下、本発明の電気溶着継手の実施の形態を図面を参照
して説明する。図1は本発明の第1実施形態を一部切欠
いて示す正面図、図2は図1の要部を示す斜視図、図3
は図2の分解斜視図である。
【0016】図において、Sはソケットタイプの電気溶
着継手であり、PE樹脂製の継手本体1と、この継手本
体1の両端部を除いた内周面に一体に配設された導電性
シート状の発熱体2とからなっている。発熱体2はカー
ボンブラックが均一に混入・分散されたPE樹脂製のも
のであり、図2に示すように、その両端外周面にリング
状の電極板3、3が装着され、この両電極板3の一部に
通電用の端子ピン31、31が接続されている。尚、両
端子ピン31の周りにはボス11、11が立設されてい
る。
【0017】次に、電気溶着継手Sの使用状態について
説明する。図1において、二点鎖線で示すように、電気
溶着継手Sの両端部の受け口内にPE管4、4を挿入
し、端子ピン31、31に接続した電源コードを通じて
通電することにより、発熱体2中のカーボンブラックが
発熱して、その周りのPE樹脂および両PE管4の外表
面層が溶融状態となって、電気溶着継手Sと両PE管4
とが溶融接続される。この場合、通電により、導電性シ
ート状の発熱体2が全面にわたって均一に発熱するの
で、隙間などの欠陥部のない気密性にすぐれた接続部を
得ることができる。
【0018】上記電気溶着継手Sを製造するには、従来
と同様にして行えばよい。継手本体1の内周面を形成す
るコア(図示せず)の外周面に、導電性シート状の発熱
体2を巻き付け、その重ね合わせ部を鏝当てして仮止め
する。そして、図3に示すように、円筒状に巻き付けた
発熱体2の両端外周面にリング状の電極板3、3を装着
し、この両電極板3の一部に通電用の端子ピン31、3
1を固着して取り付ける。次に、このようにして得られ
た成形コア(図2を参照)を外型(図示せず)内にセッ
トして溶融PE樹脂を射出成形し、冷却して脱型するこ
とにより、電気溶着継手Sが得られる。
【0019】(第2実施形態)(図4〜図6) 図4は本発明の第2実施形態を示す縦断面図、図5は図
4の要部を示す斜視図、図6は図5の分解斜視図であ
る。
【0020】図において、SAはサドルタイプの電気溶
着継手であり、サドル部12Aの中央に分岐部13Aが
立設されたPE樹脂製の継手本体1Aと、この継手本体
1Aのサドル部12Aの内面に一体に配設された導電性
シート状の発熱体2Aとからなっている。発熱体2Aは
上記第1実施例と同様のカーボンブラックが均一に混入
・分散されたPE樹脂製のものであり、図5および図6
に示すように、その両端外周面に円弧状の電極板3A、
3Aが装着され、この両電極板3Aの一部に通電用の端
子ピン31A、31Aが接続されている。尚、両端子ピ
ン31Aの周りにはボス11A、11Aが立設されてい
る。尚、電気溶着継手SAを製造するには、従来と同様
にして行えばよい。
【0021】次に、電気溶着継手SAの使用状態につい
て説明する。図4に示すように、PE管4Aの外面に、
電気溶着継手SAのサドル部12Aを所定の固定治具を
用いて固定する。そして、端子ピン31A、31Aに接
続した電源コードを通じて通電することにより、発熱体
2A中のカーボンブラックが発熱して、その周りのPE
樹脂およびPE管4Aの外表面層が溶融状態となって、
PE管4Aの上部外面に電気溶着継手SAが溶融接続さ
れる。この場合、通電により、導電性シート状の発熱体
2Aが全面にわたって均一に発熱するので、隙間などの
欠陥部のない気密性にすぐれた接続部を得ることができ
る。
【0022】(第3実施形態)(図7) 図7は、本発明の第3実施形態を示す模式図である。
【0023】第3実施形態が第1実施形態と異なる点
は、図7に示す如く、発熱体2を継手本体1の長手方向
に2分割し、両分割発熱体40A、40Bをリング状の
導電体41により接続したことにある。導電体41は、
通電時の発熱量が分割発熱体40A、40Bより相当に
小さい。
【0024】この第3実施形態にあっては、継手本体1
に配設される発熱体40A、40Bが2分割されるか
ら、継手本体1の両端部の受口のそれぞれに挿入される
PE管4の管端部回りに発熱体40A、40Bの存在し
ないコールドゾーンを確保でき、発熱体40A、40B
の発熱による溶融樹脂をそのコールドゾーンで密封して
面圧を確保し、継手本体1と両PE管4とを良好に溶融
接続できる。
【0025】(第4実施形態)(図8、図9) 図8は本発明の第4実施形態を示す模式図である。
【0026】第4実施形態が第3実施形態と異なる点
は、図8に示す如く、発熱体40A、40Bに多数の透
孔42を設けたことにある。この発熱体40A、40B
に設ける透孔42のパターンは、図9(A)〜(D)に
示す如くに多様化できる。
【0027】この第4実施形態にあっては、継手本体1
に配設される発熱体40A、40Bに多数の透孔42を
設けたから、発熱体40A、40Bの発熱により溶融す
る継手本体側樹脂と被接合管側樹脂とをその透孔42を
介してつなぐ如くに強固に融着し、継手本体11と両P
E管4の融着界面での剪断強度を向上できる。

【発明の効果】請求項1記載の本発明の電気溶着継手に
おいては、その製造効率が向上し、かつ信頼性のある接
続部を得ることができる。
【0029】請求項2記載の本発明の電気溶着継手にお
いては、カーボンブラックを均一に混入・分散した熱可
塑性樹脂製シートを発熱体としているので、より簡単に
製造できる。
【0030】請求項3記載の本発明の電気溶着継手にお
いては、発熱体を継手本体の長手方向に2分割したの
で、被接合管の管端部回りにコールドゾーンを確保し、
継手本体と被接合管とを良好に溶融接続できる。
【0031】請求項4記載の本発明の電気溶着継手にお
いては、発熱体に透孔を設けたので、継手本体側の溶融
樹脂と被接合管側の溶融樹脂とをその透孔を介して強固
に融着し、継手本体と被接合管の融着界面での剪断強度
を向上できる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 継手本体の表面近傍に発熱体が配設され
    ている電気溶着継手において、前記発熱体が導電性シー
    ト状のものであることを特徴とする電気溶着継手。
  2. 【請求項2】 導電性シートが、カーボンブラックが均
    一に混入・分散された熱可塑性樹脂製のものである請求
    項1記載の電気溶着継手。
  3. 【請求項3】 前記発熱体が継手本体の長手方向に2分
    割され、両分割発熱体を導電体により接続してなる請求
    項1又は2記載の電気溶着継手。
  4. 【請求項4】 前記発熱体が多数の透孔を付されてなる
    請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の電気溶着継手。
