- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.周期的な電解による化学的再生を利用した、イオンクロマトグラフィーによ って、アニオンまたはカチオンを分析する方法であって、 (a)検出すべきサンプル中のイオン種を、該サンプルのイオン種とは反対 電荷の膜間イオンを包含する、電解質を含む含水溶離液中で、クロマトグラフィ ーにより分離して、クロマトグラフィー流出液を形成する工程と、 (b)該クロマトグラフィー流出液を、膜サプレッサーのクロマトグラフィ ー流出液流動チャンネルを介して流動させる工程と、ここで該サプレッサー内で 該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネルは、該膜間電解質イオンと同一電荷 の、交換性イオンをもつ、少なくとも一つのイオン交換膜によって、少なくとも 一つの再生剤流動チャンネルから分離されており、 (c)再生剤溶液を、該再生剤流動チャンネルを介して送る工程と、 (d)該膜サプレッサーからの分離されたイオン種を含有する該流出液を、 検出器を通して流動させ、該検出器において、該イオン種を検出し、かつ該流出 液を再生剤流動チャンネルに導く工程と、 (e)該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネルと、該一つの再生剤流動 チャンネルとの間に電位を印加して、該膜間電解質イオンの、該一つのイオン交 換膜を介する拡散を促進する工程と、ここで該電位は、上記工程(d)のクロマト グラフィー分離中および上記工程(b)における検出中の如何なる実質的な期間で はなく、該検出工程(d)の前後に、該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネル 内の該電解質を、サプレッション中に僅かに解離した形状に転化するのに十分な 時間印加する、 諸工程を含むことを特徴とする、上記アニオンまたはカチオンの分析方法。 2.流通型イオン交換手段を、該再生剤流動チャンネル内に配置し、該流通型イ オン交換手段が、該イオン交換膜の該交換性イオンと同一の電荷をもつ交換性イ オンを有する、イオン交換サイトをもつ、請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 3.流通型イオン交換手段を、該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネル内に 配置し、該流通型イオン交換手段が、該イオン交換膜の該交換性イオンと同一の 電荷をもつ交換性イオンを有する、イオン交換サイトをもつ、請求の範囲第 1項に記載の方法。 4.該イオン種がアニオンであり、かつ工程(e)において、該クロマトグラフィ ー流出液流動チャンネル内の水を電解して、再生用のヒドロニウムイオンを生成 する、請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 5.検出器からの流出液を、再生剤溶液の源として、該サプレッサーに再循環す る、請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 6.該検出器流出液が、該検出器流出液流動チャンネルを介して流動する再生剤 溶液の唯一の源である、請求の範囲第5項に記載の方法。 7.該イオン種がカチオンであり、かつ工程(e)において、該クロマトグラフィ ー流出液流動チャンネル内の水を電解して、再生用の水酸イオンを生成する、請 求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 8.膜サプレッサーの流動チャンネルを横切って電位を印加することにより、該 サプレッサーを電解する化学的再生を利用した、電解質を含む溶離液中で、サン プル溶液中のイオン種をクロマトグラフィーにより分離し、かつ該イオン種を検 出する、イオンクロマトグラフィーによってアニオンまたはカチオンを分析する ための改良方法において、該改良が該サプレッサーを再生するのに十分な時間該 電位を印加するが、該電位の印加を、該アニオンまたはカチオンの分離並びに検 出中には停止して、該電位の印加に付随するバックグラウンドノイズを低減する ことを含む、上記方法。 9.サプレッサーの周期的な電解による化学的再生を利用した、イオンクロマト グラフィーによる、アニオンまたはカチオンの分析方法であって、該方法が、以 下の諸工程、 (a)検出すべきイオン種を含む第一のサンプルを、該第一サンプルのイオ ン種とは反対電荷の膜間電解質イオンを包含する、電解質を含む含水溶離液中で 、該第一サンプルのイオン種が分離されるクロマトグラフィーによる分離手段を 介して溶出する工程と、 (b)該クロマトグラフィー分離手段からの、該第一のサンプルを含有する 該クロマトグラフィー流出液を、サプレッサー手段のクロマトグラフィー流出液 流動チャンネルを介して流動させる工程と、ここで該サプレッサー手段内で、 該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネルは、該膜間電解質イオンと同一の電 荷の、交換性のイオンをもつ、少なくとも一つのイオン交換膜によって、少なく とも一つの再生剤流動チャンネルから分離されており、 (c)再生剤溶液を、該一つの再生剤流動チャンネルを介して導いて、該ク ロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネルを介して流動する、該クロマトグラフィ ー流出液からの該膜間電解質イオンの一部を、該膜イオン交換イオンの幾分かと 置換して、該置換イオン交換イオンの部分を、該イオン交換膜により保持し、か つ該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネル中の該電解質を、僅かに解離した 形状に転化する工程と、 (d)該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネルからの、該第一サンプル を含有する該処理した流出液を、該分離された第一サンプルのイオン種を検出す る、検出手段を介して流動させる工程と、 (e)上記工程(a)、(b)、(c)および(d)を、第二サンプルについて繰り返す 工程と、 (f)該工程(d)後および該工程(e)の前に、該クロマトグラフィー流出液流 動チャンネルと、該クロマトグラフィー流出液流動チャンネルを通る液体流動を 横断する、該一つの再生剤流動チャンネルとの間に電位を印加して、該イオン交 換膜によって保持された、該膜間電解質イオンの幾分かの、該一つのイオン交換 膜を介する拡散を促進する工程と、ここで該一つの再生剤流動チャンネルは、該 膜間電解質イオンとは反対の帯電状態にあり、該電位は、工程(e)の前に、該第 二サンプルに対する該転化工程(c)を実施するための、該クロマトグラフィー流 出液流動チャンネルの容量を再生するのに十分な時間印加され、該電位は、該第 一および第二サンプルに対する工程(d)の検出中は実質上供給停止して、該電位 の印加により発生するバックグラウンドノイズを低減する、 を含むことを特徴とする上記のアニオンまたはカチオンの分析方法。
