Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.おのおのが中央部分を有する、多孔質の電気伝導性シート材料の第一及び 第二の層と、 当該シート材料の第一及び第二の層の間に挿入された隔膜と、 第一及び第二の予備成形したガスケットとを含む集成体であり、 上記シート材料の層が上記隔膜の実質的に全表面を覆い且つ支持しており、上 記シート材料の層と上記隔膜が当該集成体を流体が通過するのに適応するように 形成された開口を有し、上記シート材料の層のおのおのにはチャンネルが形成さ れていて、これらのチャンネルは上記の開口と上記の中央部分の周囲を一般に囲 んでおり、そして上記第一及び第二の予備成形ガスケットがこれらのチャンネル に配置されている、電気化学的な燃料電池のための隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 2.前記隔膜が固体ポリマーイオン交換膜である、請求の範囲第1項記載の隔 膜電極及びシール集成体。 3.前記シート材料が炭素繊維紙を含む、請求の範囲第2項記載の隔膜電極及 びシール集成体。 4.前記隔膜の厚さが約0.001〜約0.005インチである、請求の範囲第2項記載 の隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 5.前記ガスケットの厚さが約0.012〜約0.016インチである、請求の範囲第4 項記載の隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 6.前記シート材料の層のおのおのが、前記隔膜に面する当該シート材料の中 央部分に配置された触媒を含み、当該シート材料の層がこの触媒を含有している 部分で電気化学的に活性にされている、請求の範囲第1項記載の隔膜電極及びシ ール集成体。 7.前記触媒が白金を含んでいる、請求の範囲第6項記載の隔膜 電極及びシール集成体。 8.前記シート材料の層と前記隔膜が一緒に結合されて一体になった隔膜電極 集成体を形成し、そして前記第一及び第二の中実の予備成形ガスケットをこの一 体になった隔膜電極集成体に付着させて一体になった隔膜電極とシールの集成体 を形成している、請求の範囲第6項記載の隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 9.前記流体が燃料ガス、酸化剤及び冷却剤を包含する、請求の範囲第6項記 載の隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 10.前記燃料ガスが水素を含み、前記酸化剤が酸素を含有している空気を含み 、そして前記冷却剤が水及びエチレングリコールからなる群から選ばれた流体で ある、請求の範囲第9項記載の隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 11.前記ガスケットが中実の熱可塑性エラストマー材料から作られている、請 求の範囲第1項記載の隔膜電極及びシール集成体。 12.多孔質の電気伝導性シート材料の層であり、おのおのが、中央部分と、周 縁部分と、この周縁部分に当該シート材料の層を流体が通過するのに適応するよ う形成された開口と、そしてガスケットに適応するためのチャンネルとを有し、 このチャンネルが上記開口と上記中央部分の周囲を一般に囲み且つブリッジによ って中断されている、二つの層を用意する工程、 固体ポリマーイオン交換膜であって、この膜を流体が通過するのに適応するよ うに開口を有するものを用意する工程、 上記の多孔質の電気伝導性シート材料の層の間に、これらのシート材料の層が 上記イオン交換膜の実質的に全表面を覆い且つ支持して当該イオン交換膜を結合 させて、隔膜電極集成体を作る工程、 上記シート材料の層から上記ブリッジを取除く工程、 上記チャンネルに中実の予備成形したガスケットを整合させる工 程、 そしてこれらのガスケットを上記チャンネル内で上記隔膜電極集成体に付着さ せる工程、 を含む、隔膜電極及びシール集成体の製造方法。 13.前記ポリマーイオン交換膜を前記多孔質の電気伝導性シート材料の層の間 に結合させる前に、当該交換膜に面する当該シート材料の層のおのおのの表面に 触媒と親水性ポリマー組成物とを含む混合物を適用する工程を更に含む、請求の 範囲第12項記載の方法。 14.前記親水性ポリマー組成物がポリテトラフルオロエチレンを含む、請求の 範囲第13項記載の方法。 15.前記触媒が白金を含む、請求の範囲第13項記載の方法。 16.前記シート材料の層のうちの一つにおける前記ブリッジが前記シート材料 の層のうちの他方のものにおける前記ブリッジとずれている、請求の範囲第12項 記載の方法。 17.第一及び第二の流動域プレートと、 これらの第一及び第二の流動域プレートの間に挿入された透水性の隔膜と、 第一及び第二の予備成形したガスケットとを含む集成体であり、 上記第一及び第二の流動域プレートと上記隔膜には流体が当該集成体を通過す るのに適応するように形成された開口があり、上記第一及び第二の流動域プレー トのおのおのには上記隔膜に面する表面に溝が形成されていて、これらの溝は上 記の開口の周囲を一般に囲んでおり、そしてこれらの溝に上記第一及び第二の中 実の予備成形ガスケットが配置されている、電気化学的な燃料電池の湿潤部のた めの隔膜及びシール集成体。 18.前記隔膜が固体ポリマーイオン交換膜である、請求の範囲第17項記載の隔 膜及びシール集成体。 19.前記ガスケットが固体の熱可塑性エラストマー材料から作られている、請 求の範囲第17項記載の隔膜及びシール集成体。 20.前記第一及び第二の流動域プレートの厚さが約0.2インチであり、前記溝 の深さが約0.026インチであり、前記ガスケットの厚さが約0.03インチである、 請求の範囲第19項記載の隔膜及びシール集成体。 21.多孔質のシート材料の第一及び第二の層と、 当該多孔質のシート材料の第一及び第二の層の間に挿入された透水性の隔膜と 、 第一及び第二の中実の予備成形したガスケットを含む集成体であり、 上記シート材料の層と上記隔膜には流体が当該集成体を通過するのに適応する ように形成された開口があり、上記シート材料の層のおのおのにはチャンネルが 形成されていて、これらのチャンネルは上記の開口の周囲を一般に囲んでおり、 そしてこれらのチャンネルに上記第一及び第二の中実の予備成形ガスケットが配 置されている、電気化学的な燃料電池の湿潤部のための隔膜及びシール集成体。
