Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.第1および第2の電極を提供し、 これら第1および第2の電極の間に、これらの電極と電気的に接触させて配置 された、エレクトロルミネッセンス重合体の層を提供し、前記エレクトロルミネ ッセンス重合体は、ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)(ただし、その3置換基は、ア ルキル、シクロアルキル、アルコキシ、シクロアルコキシ、アルコキシアルキル 、フルオロカーボン、シロキシル、またはヘテロ有機基、である)を包含してお り、前記ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)は少なくとも約80%の頭−尾比を有して おり、 前記第1および第2の電極の間に、第1の電極から第2の電極に電流が流れ、 かつエレクトロルミネッセンス重合体の層から電磁線が放射される、のに充分な 電位差を提供することから成る、電磁線を発生させる方法。 2.ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)が、少なくとも約90%の頭−尾比を有して いる、請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 3.ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)が、少なくも約95%の頭−尾比を有してい る、請求の範囲第2項に記載の方法。 4.ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)の3−置換基が、約15個以下の炭素原子を 含んでいる、請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 5.ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)の3−置換基が、約6〜約15個の炭素原子 を含んでいるアルキル基である、請求の範囲第4項に記載の方法。 6.ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)を2−ハロ−5−ハロマグネシウム−3−置 換チオフェンの自己縮合によって製造する、請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 7.第1または第2の電極の少なくとも1つの少なくとも1部分が実質的に透 明であり、その結果、エレクトロルミネッセンス重合体の層から放射された少な くとも電磁線が、前記電極の前記実質的に透明な部分を通して通過する、請求の 範囲第1項に記載の方法。 8.第1の電極およびエレクトロルミネッセンス重合体の間に置かれた少なく とも1つの非金属孔射出層、および第2の電極およびエレクトロルミネッセンス 重合体の間に置かれた非金属電子射出層、を提供することから更に成っている、 請求の範囲第1項に記載の方法。 9.第1の電極、および第1の電極の作業機能から異なる作業機能を有する第 2の電極を包含しており、かつ更に、前記第1および第2の電極の間に、これら の電極と電気的に接触させて配置された、エレクトロルミネッセンス重合体の層 を包含しており、前記エレクトロルミネッセンス重合体は、ポリ(3−置換チオ フェン)(ただし、その3置換基は、アルキル、シクロアルキル、アルコキシ、 シクロアルコキシ、アルコキシアルキル、フルオロカーボン、シロキシル、また はヘテロ有機基、である)を包含しており、前記ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)は 少なくとも約80%の頭−尾比を有している、エレクトロルミネッセンス装置。 10.第1および第2の電極の少なくとも1つの少なくとも1部が実質的に透明 である、請求の範囲第9項に記載の装置。 11.ポリ(3−置換チオフェン)の3−置換基が、約15個以下の炭素原子を 含んでいる、請求の範囲第9項に記載の装置。
