Abstract

(57)【要約】 【目的】 セルラー電話機及び遠隔装置のディスプレイ
へ緯度及び経度情報を与える可搬型グローバル位置標定
システムとして有用な可搬型位置標定装置を提供する。 【構成】 本システムは衛星グローバル位置標定システ
ムから信号を受信する小型ハンドヘルド受信機及び位置
標定情報信号を与えるタイミング及び計算回路を含んで
いる。ハンドヘルド装置はモデム及び基地装置計算シス
テムとディスプレイに接続されたセルラー電話網への送
信機も含んでいる。このようにして、遠隔局における個
人もしくは物体の位置がセルラー電話網を使用して決定
される。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は衛星航行システムと共に
セルラー電話網を包含するマンパックすなわち個別の可
搬型装置を使用して遠隔地における個人もしくは物体の
緯度及び経度を突き止め基地運用に情報を送信するシス
テムに関し、より詳細にはセルラー電話機及び基地装置
のディスプレイに緯度及び経度情報を与える可搬型グロ
ーバル位置決めシステムとして作用するハンドヘルド位
置標定装置に関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】中央局に対する個別車輌の位置評定を行
うさまざまな従来技術がある。１９８７年１０月２７日
付ロークスの米国特許第４，７０１，７６０号にはワー
ルドオメガネットワーク及び車載受信機を使用して中央
局に近似座標を与える車輌監視システムが示されてい
る。１９９０年１月３０日付ディルロ等の米国特許第
４，８９７，６４２号には衛星及び地球局を使用して
（１８輪トラック等の）多体車輌の状態を監視する方法
が示されている。
【０００３】１９７１年３月２日付ニッケルの米国特許
第３，５６８，１６１号には複数のセンサー局と一つの
中央局がある車輌位置標定システムが示されている。１
９８８年１２月１３日付グリーン等の米国特許第４，７
９１，５７２号にはＬＯＲＡＮ−Ｃシステムを使用して
情報の位置を定める位置標定システムが示されている。
１９９０年１月２日付グレイの米国特許第４，８９１，
７６１号には航行追尾装置と連係して公知及び未知の交
差を比較するデジタル化マップ更新システムが示されて
いる。
【０００４】従来技術に記載された装置は操作が複雑で
利用可能なセルラー電話技術を使用していない。本発明
は全国横断能力及び精密な航行位置標定システムと連係
する正規のセルラー電話機として使用できる万能性を有
し簡便且つ容易に持ち運びできて位置情報を基地に送信
及び表示する簡単な可搬型ハンドヘルド装置を提供する
ことにより従来技術の問題点を克服するものである。
【０００５】
【発明が解決しようとする課題】グローバル位置標定シ
ステムは可搬型遠隔装置及び基地情報表示装置を含み、
特に個人もしくは物体が使用するようにされている。可
搬型遠隔装置は衛星航行システムに使用するＲＦ受信機
回路、コード化信号を分析するマイクロプロセッサ、コ
ード化信号を基地装置へ送信するセルラー電話モデム回
路及び時刻時計を含んでいる。基地装置は位置データを
復号する計算システム及び遠隔装置マップ座標を表示す
る可視ディスプレイ装置を含んでいる。
【０００６】可搬型遠隔装置はグローバル位置標定シス
テムＲＦ“Ｌ”帯域アンテナ及び既存の複数の衛星から
信号を受信する受信機を含む４つのサブシステムからな
っている。マイクロプロセッサはＧＰＳ受信機内の信号
復調器からの出力を受信する計算システムとして使用さ
れる。正確な時刻の中央タイミング回路の出力はＧＰＳ
復調器及びマイクロプロセッサに接続されている。ＧＰ
Ｓ受信機は、“擬似ランダムコード”と呼ばれるそれ自
体の天体位置データ及び衛星コードに正確に一致するコ
ード列を発生する。擬似ランダムコードは衛星コードの
受信と同時に発生される。衛星から受信されるパルス列
は次に擬似ランダムコードと整合されて衛星距離を与え
る衛星時間と擬似ランダムコード発生時間との時間差が
得られる。次に情報は記憶装置に記憶されセルラー電話
モデム及び送信機へ送られてセルラー電話システムを介
して送信される。
【０００７】遠隔地にいるさまざまな人間の位置を受信
して調整する基地装置はセルラー電話システムを介して
遠隔装置から送信される位置データを復号する計算シス
テムを含んでいる。基地装置は復号化された位置データ
を使用して各遠隔装置の緯度及び経度座標を示すマップ
を表示する可視ディスプレイ装置を含んでいる。
【０００８】一構成において遠隔装置は衛星信号を受信
するＧＰＳヘリックスアンテナ及びセルラー電話システ
ムへコード化された位置情報を送信するセルラーアンテ
ナを含むバッテリ電力を使用した小型ハンドヘルド装置
とすることができる。遠隔装置は車輌電力を使用するよ
うに構成することもできる。
【０００９】本発明を使用する際、本発明は衛星、セル
ラー電話技術、コンピュータ及びモデムインターフェイ
スを使用して既存のグローバル航行位置標定システムを
結合するものであることをお判り願いたい。従って、手
持装置は独立型である。遠隔装置は特殊モデムシステム
を含み、それは例えばダイヤル音を使用しないＢｅｌｌ
２０２Ａプロトコルを使用してコンピュータメモリか
らセルラー電話システムへ位置データを転送することが
できる。ハンドヘルド装置には周波数偏位回路も組み込
まれており、一実施例において１２００ビット／秒のボ
ーレートを使用することができる。
【００１０】セルラー電話方式を使用して緯度及び経度
等の地理上の位置標定情報を遠隔地から基地へ送る個人
もしくは物体が使用するハンドヘルド“マンパック装
置”を提供することが本発明の目的である。
【００１１】マップ上の地理的位置のディスプレイを有
する基地装置へ地球全体にわたって地理的位置標定情報
を送ることができる比較的小型の可搬型ハンドヘルド装
置を提供することが本発明のもう一つの目的である。
【００１２】既存の衛星及びセルラー電話技術を使用し
て遠隔地の個人もしくは物体が個人もしくは物体の地理
的位置標定情報を基地局へ送る低廉且つ容易に利用可能
なグローバル位置標定システムを提供することが本発明
のもう一つの目的である。
【００１３】
【実施例】次に図１を参照として本発明を示し、それは
衛星ＳＶ１、ＳＶ２及びＳＶ３からの信号を使用しそれ
らは衛星からの信号を受信する第１のアンテナ１２及び
適切な信号をセルラー電話システム１６へ送信する第２
のアンテナ１４を有する遠隔装置１０へ送信される。次
にセルラー電話システムは適切な信号を基地装置へ送り
そこで情報はディスプレイへ変換される。図２は遠隔装
置１０の適切な緯度及び経度位置をディスプレイマップ
上に与える可視ディスプレイ２０に接続されたコンピュ
ータ１８を含む基地装置を示す。
【００１４】全般的に、本発明は遠隔装置１０、セルラ
ー電話システム１６及び基地装置１８からなっている。
遠隔装置１０はグローバル位置標定システム用ＲＦ
“Ｌ”帯域受信機、マイクロプロセッサを具備する計算
システム、セルラー電話機及び特殊電話モデムシステム
を含んでいる。基地装置１８は遠隔装置から受信する位
置データ復号する計算システム１８からなりマップディ
スプレイ上に遠隔装置マップ座標を表示する可視ディス
プレイ２０を含んでいる。
【００１５】次に図３を参照として、遠隔装置１０はマ
イクロプロセッサ回路２４への出力を有するグローバル
位置標定システム受信機回路２２に接続されたヘリック
スＬ帯域アンテナ１２を具備している。マイクロプロセ
ッサ回路２４の出力はモデム回路２６及びセルラー電話
回路２８に接続され、その出力はアンテナ１４を介して
セルラー電話受信機へ送信される。
【００１６】図４を参照として、遠隔装置の詳細図を示
す。アンテナ１２はグローバル位置標定システム及び衛
星ネットワーク及び受信機３０からＬ帯域信号を受信
し、それは復調器３２及びマイクロプロセッサ３４へ送
られてＧＤＯＰ（Geometric Dillusion of Precision）
計算が行われる。マイクロプロセッサ３４は中央タイミ
ング４２から正確な時刻信号も受信する。マイクロプロ
セッサ３４は衛星信号と正確に同じ時間に基いて擬似ラ
ンダムコードを発生する。次に擬似ランダムコード列は
衛星コードと正確に整合される。衛星から受信されたパ
ルス列は次に擬似コード列と整合される。衛星時間と擬
似コード発生時間との差が距離＝速度×時間に基いて衛
星距離を与える。次に情報はそれ自体がメモリコントロ
ーラ４０に接続されているランダムアクセスメモリ（Ｒ
ＡＭ）３６に記憶される。
【００１７】信号が処理されてＲＡＭ３６に記憶される
と、情報はメモリコントローラを介して電話モデム４４
へ転送されそこからセルラー送信機４６へ送られアンテ
ナ１４を介して送信される。
【００１８】遠隔装置はデータを受信するセルラー受話
機４８も含んでおり、それはメモリコントロール及び中
央タイミングへ接続し戻されて基地装置からセルラー電
話システムを介してコントロールを行えるようにするデ
コーダ５０を含んでいる。図２に戻って、遠隔装置から
セルラー電話システム１６を介して信号が送られ基地装
置のＣＰＵに受信されると、基地装置のコンピュータ１
８が信号を復号して適切なディスプレイ２０の情報へ変
換し、ディスプレイのマップ上に緯度及び経度の地理的
座標が表示される。
【００１９】図５に遠隔装置の構成例を示し、それはグ
ローバル位置標定システム信号を受信するヘリックスア
ンテナ１２及びセルラーアンテナ１４を含み、それらは
全てハンドヘルド寸法とすることができる小型矩型凾体
５２内に搭載される。遠隔装置は車輌内に構成して車輌
電源を使用することもでき、査察もしくは軍事用途では
アンテナを隠すこともできる。
【００２０】本発明により、現在のセルラー電話技術を
利用する簡単で比較的廉価なシステムを使用して世界中
どこででも個人もしくは物体を基地局から位置標定でき
る可搬手持型もしくは車載遠隔装置が提供される。
【００２１】最も実際的と思われる実施例について本発
明を説明した。しかしながら、同業者であれば本発明の
範囲内でさまざまな修正や変更が可能と思われる。

Claims (4)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 可搬型ハンドヘルド遠隔装置を使用して
    地理的座標を標定するセルラー位置標定システムにおい
    て、該システムは地球周りの軌道にある衛星から航行信
    号を受信する受信機手段と、衛星航行信号を復調する信
    号処理手段と、擬似ランダムコード発生手段と、前記復
    調手段及び前記信号処理手段に接続されたタイミング手
    段と、航行信号と擬似ランダムコード信号の時間差を比
    較して位置情報信号を発生する手段と、位置情報信号を
    セルラー電話信号へ変換する手段と、セルラー電話信号
    送信手段と、セルラー電話機を介して従来の電話線へ信
    号を送信するセルラー電話機と、前記セルラー送信機か
    ら受信する電話信号を処理する基地装置手段を具備し、
    前記基地装置手段は受信信号を復号して地理的位置標定
    データを決定し、地理的座標情報を表示するディスプレ
    イ手段が前記基地装置に接続されている、セルラー位置
    標定システム。
  2. 【請求項２】 基地から遠隔の人間もしくは物体の位置
    標定方法において、該方法は、(a) 衛星位置から航行情
    報を受信し、(b) 遠隔位置において擬似ランダムコード
    を発生し衛星航行信号に関連する公知の時間信号と比較
    し、(c) 航行情報をセルラー電話信号へ転送するセルラ
    ー電話モデム信号処理手段を提供し、(d) 航行信号情報
    をセルラー電話網へ送信し、(e) 航行信号情報をセルラ
    ー電話機を介して中央処理装置へ受信し、(d) 基地装置
    が受信する信号を表示する手段を提供する、ステップか
    らなる人物もしくは物体位置標定方法。
  3. 【請求項３】 遠隔地から基地へ緯度及び経度情報を送
    るセルラー位置標定システムにおいて、該システムはハ
    ンドヘルドサイズとされた可搬型凾体と、前記凾体内に
    載置された可搬型航行衛星信号受信手段と、前記凾体内
    に載置され時間遅延を与えるタイミング手段と、入力が
    前記航行衛星信号受信手段及び前記タイミング手段に接
    続され前記衛星信号受信手段の地理的位置を表わす出力
    信号を出力する信号処理手段と、前記衛星信号処理手段
    の出力に接続された電話モデム手段と、前記モデムに接
    続され前記凾体内に載置されたセルラー電話信号送信機
    と、セルラー電話信号を送受信するセルラー電話信号網
    と、前記セルラー電話信号網に接続されてセルラー電話
    信号を受信し且つ前記航行衛星信号受信手段の地理的位
    置を表わす表示を与える基地装置を具備する、セルラー
    位置標定システム。
  4. 【請求項４】 請求項３記載のセルラー位置標定システ
    ムにおいて、該システムは前記凾体内に載置されたセル
    ラー電話信号受信機と、前記凾体内に載置され前記セル
    ラー電話信号受信機及び前記信号処理手段に接続されて
    前記信号処理手段の制御を行うメモリ手段を具備する、
    セルラー位置標定システム。
