Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 (産業上の利用分野) 本発明はポリエチレン管の接続方法に関する。
(従来技術) ポリエチレン管とポリエチレン管との従来の接
続は、機械又は手作業によりポリエチレン管端部
を加熱溶融してビード部を形成し、該ビード部を
圧着して融着する方法、あるいは金属継手の使用
によつてなされていた。
(発明が解決しようとする問題点) ところが、融着方法はビード部の形成によりポ
リエチレン管内面にビード、即ち突起を生じ、ポ
リエチレン管の接続部分において流量が変化する
問題、及び手作業による融着にあつてはビード部
の形成、圧着時にポリエチレン管に芯ズレ(偏
平)が生じる問題を有しており、又、金属継手の
使用は部品コストが嵩む問題を有していた。
本発明は前記の問題点を解決する接続方法を提
供するものである。
(問題点を解決するための手段) 本発明は、ポリエチレン管とポリエチレン管と
の接続に際して、該ポリエチレン管内径と略同一
の外径を有するステンレス管をポリエチレン管端
部に挿入し、2つのポリエチレン管をその端面間
に所定間隔を有して連結し、その後ステンレス管
の露出部を加熱し、対向するポリエチレン管の端
面を圧着して融着する接続方法である。
以下添付図面を用いて具体的に説明する。
第1図及び第2図はステンレス管の挿入前後及
びステンレス管の加熱時を示す斜視図である。ポ
リエチレン管1,1′は、その内面端部1aが面
取りされ、ステンレス管2の挿入を容易としてい
る。ステンレス管2は、その外径がポリエチレン
管1,1′の内径と略同一とされ、ポリエチレン
管1,1′に挿入されて、ポリエチレン管1,
1′をその端面間に所定間隔を有して連結する。
尚、ステンレス管2の内面端部2aは流体の抵抗
を減ずる為に面取りが施されている。そして、ス
テンレス管2の露出部、即ちポリエチレン管1,
1′の端面間に位置する部分を約200℃に加熱し、
直ちに第3図の如くポリエチレン管1,1′の端
面を圧着する。
(作用) 前記ステンレス管2の加熱によつて該ステンレ
ス管2に蓄えられる熱量は、ステンレス管2と接
する部分におけるポリエチレン管1,1′を溶融
するに足るもので、この熱量によつて、ポリエチ
レン管1,1′端面の圧着時にその圧着部が溶融
融着され、接続が行なわれる。そして、圧着によ
るポリエチレン管1,1′の端部付近は圧縮され
る為に、その端部は外方へ盛り上がり、その結果
融着面積が大となつて融着が確実になされる。
又、ステンレス管2端部においては圧着によつて
ポリエチレン管1,1′の内面がわずかに盛り上
がり、これによつてステンレス管の固定がなされ
る。
(効果) 本発明の実施により得られるポリエチレン管の
接続部内面はビード等の突起を有しなく、又、ス
テンレス管端部の段差もわずかなものである為に
流量を変化させる虞がない。その上、ステンレス
管の存在によつて、接続部においてポリエチレン
管に芯ズレを生じることもなく、ステンレス管も
従来の金属継手と比べて安価である利点を有す
る。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 1 ポリエチレン管の接続に際して、該ポリエチ
    レン管内径と略同一の外径を有するステンレス管
    をポリエチレン管に挿入し、2つのポリエチレン
    管をその端面間に所定間隔を有して連結させ、そ
    の後ステンレス管の露出部を加熱し、対向するポ
    リエチレン管の端面を圧着することを特徴とす
    る、ポリエチレン管の接続方法。
