In recent years, with the development of information processing technology, machine translation devices using electronic computers have been developed. With this translation device, the translated text is not necessarily translated in the manner intended by the original text. Furthermore, if a single word in the original text has multiple meanings, the translation cannot be uniquely determined. Furthermore, there are cases where the user wants to change the translation based on the user's preference even though they have the same meaning, when the user notices that the original sentence was incorrect and corrects it and has the computer redo the translation, or when the user directly corrects the translated sentence. be.

ある。 On the other hand, it is common practice to use translation information, that is, information on intermediate results of translation from a translation device, as information for editing support for users. However, this translation information has a large amount of data per sentence, and it is not a good idea from the viewpoint of execution speed and memory efficiency for the system to hold this data for each translated sentence. Therefore, if the user has confirmed the translation, it is efficient to remove the translation information.

There was no way to display the translated text in different display formats. This has resulted in a drawback that the user's editing work is inefficient.

The present invention is a machine translation system that converts an original text into a translated text. Based on the editing instruction information input by the user, the present invention can distinguish between a translated text that has already been edited and a translated text that has not yet been edited (or a translated text that is currently being edited). Each display mode is different to clearly distinguish them from each other.

According to the present invention, in a machine translation system,
By displaying the translated text that has already been edited and the translated text that has not yet been edited, the user can see at a glance how far the editing work has progressed, and also use the translation information to see which translated text has been edited. It can be seen at a glance whether or not the translation is possible, which has a great practical advantage when the user edits the translated text.

FIG. 3 is a processing flow diagram of an embodiment of the present invention. The embodiment device shown in FIG. 1, for example, translates an original text (English text) consisting of several sentences one by one using a translation device, displays the translated text (Japanese text) and the original text in the display mode described later, and also displays the translated text (Japanese text) and the original text in the display mode described later. The user performs editing work while looking at the display section, also using translation information. In FIG. 1, an input unit 1 consisting of a keyboard etc. is used by the user to input the original text (English text),
Alternatively, an editing instruction signal is input,
These are sent by the input control section 2 to the translation section 4 if it is an original text, and to the editing control section 9 if it is an editing instruction signal (operation signal). (This editing instruction signal is an instruction to confirm the completion of editing, an instruction to start editing work, editing information, etc.) In the translation section 4, when the original text is input from the input control section 2 (step a in Fig. 2), the translation control section 3
According to the instructions, the original text is shaped if necessary and sent to the original text storage section 6 (step b in Fig. 2). Further, the original text is translated using the translation dictionary 5 according to instructions from the translation control unit 3 (step c in FIG. 2). In this way, when the translation work is completed, the translation unit 4 sends the resulting translation to the translation storage unit 7 (step d in Figure 2), and also data generated during the translation process that will be needed later in the editing work (translation information). is sent to the translation information storage section 8 (step e in FIG. 2). (This translation information is stored in the translation information storage unit 8 using the sentence numbers assigned by the editing control unit 9 corresponding to the original text and the translated text as addresses.) On the other hand, the editing control unit 9 stores the sentence numbers in the original text storage unit 6. Check whether the 5th original text has been sent from the translation department 4 (step f in Figure 3), and if so, send this original text to the 4th translation section.
As shown in FIG. 21, the image is displayed at high brightness on the display unit 10 such as a CRT display (step h in FIG. 3).
Similarly, the editing control section 9 stores the translation section 4 in the translation storage section 7.
It is checked whether a translated text has been sent from (step g in Fig. 3), and if there is, this translated text is displayed in high brightness on the display section 10 as shown in Fig. 4 22 (step i in Fig. 3), If necessary, display the message "Translation completed" for the user (see 3rd page).

It is checked whether the original text storage unit 6 and the translated text storage unit 7 are checked (step k in FIG. 3).
If there is, it is checked whether the instruction information is a confirmation instruction (Step 1 in Figure 3). If it is a confirmation instruction, the text (translation, translation,

Then, the sentence numbers on the display section 10 of the sentences in that range are blinked (step o in FIG. 3). If the editing operation instruction is for the display format of the text, such as inserting, deleting, moving, copying characters, etc., the editing control section 9 sends the instruction to the text editing section 11.
Also, things related to the translation content, such as translation word selection (boy

``I saw a girl with a telescope'' in the translation ``I saw a girl with a telescope.'' If there is an editing instruction such as changing "I found a hospital" to "I found a hospital," the instruction is sent to the translation editing department 12, and the translation or original text is edited according to the instruction (step p in Figure 3). ).

For example, in the above example, sentences that have been confirmed for editing are displayed in low brightness, but the sentences are connected and displayed as a series of paragraphs, and sentences that have not been confirmed are displayed individually in order to make editing easier. It may also be displayed in a similar format. In other words, as shown in FIG. 5, the verified text may be displayed in paragraph units (FIG. 5, 25), and the text being edited may be displayed in sentence units (FIG. 5, 26). In addition, the present invention can be implemented with various modifications without departing from the gist thereof.
