Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the editing efficiency of a user by displaying edited and confirmed translated sentences separately from unedited translated sentences. CONSTITUTION:A translation part 4 sends a translated sentence to a translated sentence storage part 7 and also sends the translation information to a translation information memory part 8 respectively. An editing control part 9 displays the translated sentences if delivered from the part 4 on a display part 10 with high luminance. When these actions are over or no translated sentence is sent to the part 7 from the part 4, the part 9 checks whether or not the editing indication information is sent from an input part 1 via an input control part 2. Then the part 9 reduces the luminance level at the area of the sentence (translated or original sentence) receiving an indication for confirmation as long as the editing indication information sent from the part 1 indicates the confirmation. Furthermore the translation information on the corresponding sentence is deleted out of the part 8 as necessary.

In recent years, with the development of information processing technology, machine translation devices using electronic computers have been developed. With this translation device, the translated text is not necessarily translated in the manner intended by the original text. Furthermore, if a single word in the original text has multiple meanings, the translation cannot be uniquely determined. Furthermore, there are cases where the user wants to change the translation based on the user's preference even though they have the same meaning, cases where the user notices that the original sentence is incorrect and corrects it and has the computer correct the translation, or cases where the user directly corrects the translation. .

In this way, current machine translation systems require the user to edit the translated text from a computer.

However, in the current system, when displaying the original text and translated text, the translated text that has already been edited, the translated text that is currently being edited, and the translated text that has not been edited at all are all displayed in the same display format, which makes it difficult for the user to This has the disadvantage that it is difficult to identify which translations can be edited, reducing the efficiency of editing work.

On the other hand, it is common practice to use translation information, that is, information on intermediate results of translation from a translation device, as information for editing support for users. However, this translation information requires a large amount of data per sentence, and the system retains this data for each translated sentence due to the speed of execution.
There is no advantage in terms of memory efficiency, so if the user has confirmed the translation, it is efficient to remove the translation information.

Therefore, from this point of view, it is necessary to distinguish and display to the user the unedited translated text that has translation information and the edited translated text that does not have translation information, but conventional systems do not allow for such differences. There was no display mode that displayed the entire translated text. For this reason, there is a drawback that the user's editing work is inefficient.

The present invention is a machine translation system that converts a full translation of an original text, and based on editing instruction information input by the user, can distinguish between a translated text that has already been edited and a translated text that has not yet been edited (or the translated text that is currently being edited). Each display mode is different to clearly distinguish them from each other.

According to the present invention, in a machine translation system, the translated text that has already been edited and the translated text that has not yet been edited are displayed separately, so that the user can see at a glance how far the editing work has progressed, and the translation information is completely displayed. It is possible to see at a glance which translations can be edited using the software, which has a great practical advantage when a user edits a translated text.

Alternatively, editing instruction signals are input, and these are sent by the input control section 2 to the translation section 4 if it is an original text, and to the editing control section 9 if it is an editing instruction signal (operation signal). (
The editing instruction signals include an editing completion confirmation instruction 1 an editing start instruction 1 editing information, and the like. ) In the translation section 4, when the original text is input from the input control section 2 (step a in FIG. 2), the original text is shaped if necessary according to the instructions from the translation control section 3 and sent to the original text storage section 6 (step a in FIG. 2). b). Check to see if the original text has been sent (step f in Figure 3), and if so, send the original text to C as shown in Figure 4, 21.
The image is displayed at high brightness on the display unit 10 such as an RT display (step h in FIG. 3). Similarly, the editing control unit 9 checks whether or not a translated text has been sent from the translation unit 4 to the translated text storage unit 7 (step 3 in Figure 3).
2, the display unit 10 should display a message with high brightness (step i) in FIG.
(Step JL in Figure 3) When these operations are completed or when the translated text is not sent from the translation section 4 to the translated text storage section 7, the editing control section 9 displays the message from the input section 1. It is checked whether editing instruction information (signal) has been sent through the input control section 2 (step k in FIG. 3), and if not, the entire process of checking the original text storage section 6 and translation storage section 7 described above is repeated.
