Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 (産業上の利用分野) 本発明は冷凍用潤滑剤(rrtriHrelioalu
bricant)に関し、さらに詳しくはフルオロ炭化
水素(b7drollao+oea+bon、 RFC
)およびポリオキシアルキレン誘導体との混合物からな
ることを特徴とする潤滑剤に関する。
(従来の技術) クロロフルオロカーボン(CF C)は潤滑剤として広
く使用されている。はとんどの通常のCFCはオゾン破
壊力を有するため、1987年9月に締結のモントリオ
ール協定によりそれらの製造と利用を世界的に抑制する
ことが合意された。
CFCに対する有力な代替品としてRFC,特にRt3
4i (CF 3 CH2F )が確認されている。
冷凍用潤滑剤は冷凍系の圧縮機に使用されるものである
。はとんどの冷凍系で得られる冷却能力は密閉ループ系
内の冷媒ガスの圧縮/液化と膨張/蒸発のサイクルによ
るものである。液化に先立って、冷媒は圧縮されるが、
圧縮機は潤滑されねばならない。冷凍用潤滑剤はガスに
よる化学的作用に抵抗性があり、低温で沈殿する物質を
含まず、広い温度範囲で作動可能であり、液化冷媒と混
和できるものでなければならない。
デュポン社はリサーチジスクロージャ(研究の開示)第
17483号、1978年10月に、ユニオンカーバイ
ドコーポレーション社の商品名1ニーコン(Ucom)
 ” L B−t65および“ニーコン”LB’−52
5のようなポリアルキレングリコール油はR1348と
組み合せて冷凍用油として用いることができると主張し
ている。
米国特許第4,755,316 号(US−A−475
5316) Gt、テトラフルオロエタンと(にR13
411を潤滑油としてのある種のポリオキシアルキレン
グリコールとともに冷媒として用いる冷凍用潤滑剤を開
示している。このポリオキシアルキレングリコールは水
酸基について(少なくとも)2官能性であり、オキシプ
ロピレン単位が全体の少なくとも80%であるポリオキ
シプロピレングリコールが好ましく、ポリオキシプロピ
レングリコールがさらに好ましい。
米国特許第4.755.316号の発明者は、リサーチ
ジスクロージャ第17483号の存在を認め、(2欄3
5行ないし40行)“ユニオンカーバイドのポリアルキ
レングリコール油″ (すなわち1ニーコン”L B 
−165と“ニーコン”LB−525)”は十分に″(
Rf34mと)″混和しないことを見出したこと、“事
実冷凍系のどこかの個所で2相の混合物となっている可
能性”に言及している。またこれらの発明者は、(2欄
41行ないし44行)”L B −165とL B −
525は各分子の一端に水酸基を他端にn−ブチル基を
有するポリオキシプロピレングリコールである”との考
えを述べている。
米国特許第4.755.316号の実施例2(比較用)
(8欄44行から9欄25行)に、37℃における規定
粘度が62ないし114センチストークス(mm2/S
)の範囲の各種N−プチルポリオキシブロビ1ノングリ
コールヘミ−エーテルと50ないし90重量%の範囲に
なる量のRH41との混和性の比較データ(表B)が示
されている。周囲温度(“室温”)においてこれらへミ
ーエーテルの多くは不混和性であった。
最も好ましいヘミーエーテ°ルの場合においてさえ、そ
の混和性はRINtの50重量%で40℃の範囲までの
みであった。
例えば家庭用冷蔵庫とか営業用冷凍庫での利用のように
冷凍用潤滑剤を使用する場合の重要な点は、相分離に基
づく系の性能低下をなくするために潤滑剤成分と冷媒成
分とはすべての運転可能範囲にわたり完全に混和しなけ
ればならないということである。
(発明の開示) さて、驚くべきことにある特定の種類のポリオキシアル
キレングリコールヘミ−エーテルが、広い温度範囲にわ
たり例えば−70℃から少なくとも65℃で、ヘミ−エ
ーテルが0.5から99重量%のすべでの比率において
R134aと混和することが発見された。
すなわち、本発明は、フルオロ炭化水素および次式(1
)に示すポリオキシアルキレングリコールヘミ−エーテ
ル: RO−((EO)     (PO)    コ − 
H(I)n [ここで式中、EOはエチレンオキシを示し、POはプ
ロピレンオキシを示し、RはCl−6のアルキル基であ
り、およびmとnはそれぞれへミーエーテル分子のエチ
レンオキシとプロピレンオキシの部分の平均数を示し、
ただしm/(+e+n)はOないし0.5の範囲にあり
、およびn / (m+n)は0.5ないし1の範囲に
あり、該へミーエーテルは40℃における粘度(ドイツ
工業規格(D I N)31562)が10ないし46
ij/Sの範囲にある]の混合物からなることを特徴と
する冷凍用潤滑剤を提供するものである。
フルオロ炭化水素は好都合にはテトラフルオロエタンで
あり好ましくは 1.11.2−テI・ラフルオロエタ
ン(R1341)  (CF 3 CH2F )である
ヘミ−エーテルの40℃における粘度(DIN515N
)は好ましくは14ないし4bJ/Sの範囲にあり、R
1341との特に良好な混和性は40℃における粘度(
D I N  51562)が14から33aj/Sの
範囲にあるヘミ−エーテルの場合に見出された。
好ましくはn / (m+n) は少なくとも0,75
でありおよびmはさらに好ましくはOである。好ましく
は(m + n )は6から15の範囲にある。
所望の低粘度を得るためには分子量は低い方が好ましい
が、潤滑剤の他の所望の物性も同様に両立する程度に低
いのが好ましく、すなわち20Gから250Gの分子量
範囲の低い方、例えば200から1000、さらに 4
00から850が好ましい。Rは好ましくはC3−4ア
ルキル基、例えばメチル、エチルもしくはn−ブチルで
ある。
本発明はまた上記に定義した通りの式lのポリオキシア
ルキレングリコールヘミ−エーテルとフルオロ炭化水素
とを混合することからなる、本発明の冷凍用潤滑剤の製
造方法も提供するものである。フルオロ炭化水素の量は
フルオロ炭化水素とヘミ−エーテルとの合計量をもとに
好ましくは0.5から99重量%の範囲にある。
上記に定義した通りの式1のヘミ−エーテルは特に家庭
用冷蔵庫や商業用冷凍機の用途に好適であるが、それ等
に限定されるものではない。
選択したベミーエーテルは粘度指数(Vl)が高く、流
動点(++0%r paint)が低く、加うるに混和
性の範囲も広いものである。Vl値が高いほど低温での
粘度は低く、蒸発機から圧縮機への油の戻りもよい結果
となる。さらにv■が高いほど、高温における粘度は高
(なり圧縮機のベアリングやピストン/シリンダ一部の
潤滑はよい結果となる。
本発明は次の実施例の説明からさらによく理解される。
実施例1から8 各種ポリオキシアルキレングリコールヘミ−エーテルを
、開始剤としてn−ブタノール、メタノ−ルおよび“ド
パノール(DOBANJL) 25” (商標)第1級
アルコール(ローヤルプツチ/シェルグルー1社から入
手のC1l−Is第1級アルコールのブレンド)を用い
て調製した。
反応器を窒素でフラッシュし、反応器に開始剤を仕込ん
だ。0.25%水酸化カリウムフレーク(V/V対最終
製造物)を加え、混合物を115℃に加熱した。プロピ
レンオキシド、または所定のモル比(P O/E O比
率)のプロピレンオキシドとエチレンオキシドとの混合
物を次に反応器に最大圧力5バール(5X10’Pe)
で仕込んだ。添加/反応合計時間は3ないし4時間であ
った。プロピレンオキシドまたはプロピレンオキシド/
エチレンオキシド混合物の添加終了後も 120’cで
最大さらl;3時間反応を継続した。
中和するために、約1ないし 1.5%の1ビユーロン
(PIIRON) ”  (商標)(Naz H2P2
07−ビロリン酸二ナトリウム)および0.75ないし
 1.0%水(v/v対最終製造物)を加え、混合物を
90℃2時間撹拌した。揮発物(水を含め)を減圧除去
し、最終製造物を濾過し固体を除き、適切な場合には濾
過を助ける濾過助剤を加えた。
各種ポリオキシアルキレングリコールヘミ−エーテルの
組成と特性を次の表1に示す。表1で40℃と 100
’cの粘度はドイツ工業規格(D I N)515Hに
したがって測定し、粘度指数はドイツ工業規格(D I
 N) 13029Hにしたがって測定し、流動点はド
イツ工業規格(D I N) ISO3016にしたが
って測定した。
各種ヘミ−エーテルとRN4m冷媒(1,1,1,2−
テトラフルオロエタン)との混和性はドイツ工業規格(
D I N)5H51にしたがって低温保持器、温度調
節器および調製したガラス管を用いて測定した。冷媒と
へミーエーテルとの混合物の範囲(重量法で濃度測定)
はへミーエーテル0.5から99重量%含有するもので
あるが、これをシールしたガラス管中に調製し、管を温
度調節器または低温保持器の温度制御槽に完全に浸漬し
た。検流体を次に2℃/分の速度で加熱または冷却し相
分離の温度を記録した。結果をやはり次の表1に示す。
M、W、(GPC)はゲルが過クロマトグラフィーによ
る分子量 傘へミーエーテルの全濃度に対する混和性測定は温度−
vo℃から+Ut+℃の範囲に対してのみ行なった。
(1)2から48重量%ヘミ−エーテルで不混和性<2
1混和域は僅かのみ 例えば家庭用冷蔵庫とか営業用冷凍機用等に冷凍用潤滑
剤を使用する場合に、相分離に基づく冷凍系に発生し得
る性能低下を避けるために潤滑剤成分と冷媒成分はすべ
ての運転され得る範囲にわたり完全に混和しなければな
らないことが重要であることは明らかである。
上記表1は、比較実験AないしD1米国特許第4、75
5.316の8IIIと91m1の表Bに示す阿−ブチ
ルポリオキシプロピレングリコールヘミ−エーテル、た
だしこれは62から114センチストークス(mm2/
S)の範囲の37℃の規定粘度を有するものであるが、
これ等の結果とは対照的に、実施例1から8のヘミ−エ
ーテルは一70℃から少なくとも+ 65’Cの範囲で
全濃度にわたり、1.1. l、 2−テトラフルオロ
エタンと混和することを示している。

Claims (9)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)フルオロ炭化水素および次式( I )に示すポリ
    オキシアルキレングリコールヘミ−エーテル:RO−[
    (EO)_m(PO)_n]−H( I )[ここで式中
    、EOはエチレンオキシを示し、POはプロピレンオキ
    シを示し、RはC_1_−_6のアルキル基であり、お
    よびmとnは各ヘミ−エーテル分子のエチレンオキシと
    プロピレンオキシの部分の平均数を示し、ただしm/(
    m+n)は0ないし0.5の範囲にあり、およびn/(
    m+n)は0.5ないし1の範囲にあり、該ヘミ−エー
    テルは40℃における粘度(ドイツ工業規格(DIN)
    51562)が10ないし46mm^2/Sの範囲にあ
    る]の混合物からなることを特徴とする冷凍用潤滑剤。
  2. (2)フルオロ炭化水素がテトラフルオロエタンである
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の潤滑剤。
  3. (3)フルオロ炭化水素がCF_3CH_2Fであるこ
    と特徴とする請求項2に記載の潤滑剤。
  4. (4)粘度が14ないし40mm^2/Sの範囲にある
    ことを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載
    の潤滑剤。
  5. (5)RがC_1_−_4のアルキル基であることを特
    徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑剤
  6. (6)n/(m+n)が少なくとも0.75であること
    を特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載の潤
    滑剤。
  7. (7)mが0であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の
    潤滑剤。
  8. (8)粘度が14ないし33mm^2/Sの範囲にある
    ことを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれか1項に記載
    の潤滑剤。
  9. (9)請求項1に定義した通りの式 I のポリオキシア
    ルキレングリコールヘミ−エーテルとフルオロ炭化水素
    を混合することからなる請求項1に記載の冷凍用潤滑剤
    の製造方法。
