発明の背景
無機顔料、特にTiO2は、不透明化剤として様々な重
合体にしばしば混入される。無機顔料の混入される重合
体には、ヒンダードアミン光安定剤(HALS) 、フ
ェノール系酸化防止剤(例えば、一般に「BHTJと呼
ばれるブチレーテッドハイドロキシトルエン、及び関連
材料)、炎抑制剤(例えば、5b203)、及び紫外線
安定剤も混入される。

発明の詳細な説明
本発明の顔料の製造には適切であればどのような有機酸
でも使用することができる。有機酸としては酸基を1個
有するものを使用することができるが、有機酸は酸基を
2個以上有していることが好ましい。特に好ましい有機
酸は酸基がシス位置で相互に隣接して2個以上配置され
ているものである。また、有機酸は炭素原子を約2〜1
2個有していることが好ましいが、有機酸の有する炭素
原子の数は約2〜18個であることが更に好ましく、約
2〜12個であることが最も好ましい。他の好ましい有
機酸は炭素−炭素不飽和基を少なくとも1個有したもの
である。このような酸はエチレンの不飽和単量体の重合
体に混合される顔料として特に有益である。有機酸の量
は無機顔料の重量に対して一般に約0.01〜6パーセ
ントであり、好ましくは約0.05〜4パーセント、最
も好ましくは約0,1〜3パーセントである。また、酸
の混合物を用いることもできる。所望であれば、酸基の
有効量によって以上に述べた性質が維持されている限り
、酸を部分的にエステル化することもできる。

、チタン酸塩ニッケル、ケイ藻土、ガラス繊維、ガラス
粉、ガラス球、その他、及びこれらの混合物を挙げるこ
とができる。

素化ポリエステル、ポリエーテル、アセタール、ポリイ
ミド、ポリオキシエチレン、その他があるがオレフィン
重合体が好ましい。

ン等のポリオレフィン、ポリ塩化ビニルやポリビニルエ
ステルやポリスチレン等のポリビニル、アクリル単独重
合体及び共重合体、フェノール、アルキド、アミノ樹脂
、シロキサン、エポキシ樹脂、ナイロン、ポリウレタン
、フェノキシ、ポリサルフェイン(polysul [
’anes)、ポリカーボネート、ポリエステル及び塩
素化ポリエステル、ポリエーテル、アセタール、ポリイ
ミド、ポリオキシエチレン、その他があるがオレフィン
重合体が好ましい。
重合体には必要、希望、−船釣習慣等に応じて多種多用
の添加剤を含めることができる。添加剤としては、触媒
、反応開始剤、酸化防止剤(例えば、BHT) 、膨張

の変色を抑制する効果を例示するために、試料を特定の
時間紫外線にさらしてデルタb値をflF1定した。デ
ルタb値のΔP1定にはハンターラブ色差テスタ(Hu

ster)を用いた。デルタbは試料の色反射率の相違
を示すものである。試料は次のようにして作成した。

n) 770 J及び0,6グラムのブチレーテッドハ
イドロトルエン(BIT)を混合物に添加した。この混
合物をローラーで伸ばしてシート状にし、空気圧プレス
で押圧し、制御された環境の光キャビネット内に載置し
た。光キャビネットはF15T8/BLB形ランプを4
個有しており、総入力電力は170ワツトである。ラン
プは紫外線スペクトルの光を出すもので、このランプか
ら25センチメートル離れた位置に試料を載置した。全
経過時間122時間に至るまでの様々な経過時間毎にデ
ルタbの値を記録した。

準的顔料Aは無機酸化物による表面処理の施されていな
い塩素法ルチル型酸化チタン顔料である。標準的顔料B
は3.5%のアルミナ及び1.0%のシリカの無機物で
表面処理の施されている塩素ルチル型二酸化チタン顔料
である。

実験結果は表Iに要約されている。既に述べたように、
標準顔料Aは無機表面処理されていないルチル型二酸化
チタン顔料である。このような顔料は変色を促進させる
傾向を有している。標準顔料Bは無機物表面処理が施さ
れており、標準顔料Aよりもいくらか反応性が弱くなっ
ている。表Iに示されているデータは、122時間後に
標準顔料Aの反応性(変色の促進により計測した)がス
テアリン酸では22%、安息香酸では20%、マロン酸
では38%、マレイン酸では72%だけ減少することを
示している。標準顔料Bでは、反応性はステアリン′酸
では46%、安息香酸では60%、マロン酸では74%
、マレイン酸では81%だけ減少することを示している
。この割合はデルタbの値から直接計算したものである
。
標準顔料Aは無機表面処理されていないルチル型二酸化
チタン顔料である。このような顔料は変色を促進させる
傾向を有している。標準顔料Bは無機物表面処理が施さ
れており、標準顔料Aよりもいくらか反応性が弱くなっ

- 【特許請求の範囲】 1、無機顔料の重量に対して約0.01〜6パーセント
の量の有機酸によって被覆された無機顔料。 2、有機酸は酸基を2個以上有している請求項1に記載
の無機顔料。 3、有機酸は炭素原子を2〜28個有している請求項1
に記載の無機顔料。 4、有機酸はシス位置で相互に隣接した酸基を2個以上
有している請求項1に記載の無機顔料。 5、有機酸は酸基を2個以上、炭素−炭素不飽和基を少
なくとも1個有している請求項1に記載の無機顔料。 6、有機酸はシス位置で相互に隣接している酸基を2個
