Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 技術分野 本発明は、インクジェット記録ヘッドに関する。
従来技術 第5図は、従来のインクジェット記録ヘソ、ドの一例を
説明するための概観図、第6図は、第5図のA−A断面
図、第7図は、第5図のB−B断面図、第8図は、第7
図C部の拡大図、第9図は、動作説明をするための図で
、図中、1は圧電素子1aと弾性板1bとより成る周知
の振動ユニット、2はノズル、3は記録液流路、4は振
動ユニット固定支持面、5は振動ユニットの記録液流路
側の面、6は記録液、7は漏些記録液で、第6図に示す
ように、振動ユニット1は記録液6中においてノズル2
に連通ずる記録液流路3に平行に配置され、かつ、ノズ
ル2に対して反対側に設けられた振動ユニット固定支持
面4で固定支持されており、印字信号が振動ユニット1
に与えられた時、第9図(b)に示すように振動ユニッ
ト1がノズル側に口を開く形で変位し、この時、ΔVの
体積変化を起こし、印字信号の解除とともに第9図(a
)のようになり、先程のΔVの体積変化とそれに付随し
た圧力変化が記録液6に伝達され、ノズル2より液滴を
噴射するものである。
而して、上記記録ヘッド、振動ユニット1の変位が記録
液流路3の記録液6をノズル方向(第8図では紙面に垂
直の方向)に押し出すように作用するが、振動ユニット
1の記録液流路側の面5がフラットであるため、記録液
流路3の両側より記録液の漏れ7を生じる。
一般にマルチノズルのインクジェット記録ヘッドの場合
、印字によるドツトの位置ずれの原因として、ノズル間
の液滴速度のバラツキがあるが、これはヘッドを搭載す
るキャリッジの速度が一定なら液滴速度と噴射距離(ノ
ズルと記録紙のギャップ)から求められる時間により液
滴の印字位置が決まる。従って、その時間のバラツキが
少ないこと、又、その時間が短いこと、つまり液滴速度
が速いことが要求されるが、上記従来技術によると、記
録液加圧時、記録液流路3の両側より記録液の漏れ7を
生じ、記録液の液滴速度が遅くなる欠点があった。
目     的 本発明は、上述のごとき実情に鑑みてなされたもので、
上記従来技術における記録液の漏れを振動ユニットの記
録液流路側の面にスリットを設けて防止し、もって、液
滴速度を上げ、ドツトの位置ずれを少なくすることを目
的としてなされたものである。
構   成 本発明は、上記目的を達成するために、圧電素子に弾性
板を配置して変位の方向を決定させるようにした振動ユ
ニットを有し、該振動ユニットは電気的に絶縁されて記
録液中に配置されるとともにノズルに連通ずる記録液流
路に平行に配置され、ノズルに対して反対側の一端で固
定支持され、駆動時に記録液流路の長手方向に対して垂
直方向に変位して前記記録液に圧力変化を伝達してノズ
ルより液滴を噴射するインクジェット記録ヘッドにおい
て、前記振動ユニットの記録液流路側の面に記録液流路
の方向にスリットを有することを特徴としたものである
。以下、本発明の実施例に基づいて説明する。
第1図は、本発明によるインクジェット記録ヘッドの一
実施例を説明するための図で、第5図のA−A線方向か
ら見た図に相当する断面図、第2図は、第5図のB−B
線方向から見た図に相当する断面図、第3図は、第2図
C部の拡大図セ、図中、1は振動ユニット、10はスリ
ットで、その他、第5図乃至第9図に示した従来技術と
同様の作用をする部分には第5図乃至第9図の場合と同
一の参照番号が付しである。
本発明は、上記従来技術の欠点を解消するために、第1
図乃至第3図に示すように、振動ユニット1の記録液流
路側の面5に、記録液流路3の長手方向にスリット1o
を設けたもので、このようにすれば、振動ユニット1を
記録液流路3の長手方向に対して垂直方向に変位させて
ノズル2より記録液を噴射させる時、記録液6の大部分
は記録液流路3と振動ユニット1に設けたスリット10
に沿って移動するので、第3図に示すように、従来のよ
うに記録液流路3の両側からの記録液の漏れ7が少なく
なり、振動ユニット1の変位によって得られた体積変化
が効率よく圧力変化に変換されて記録液に伝達されるの
で、液滴速度を上昇することか可能となる。
なお、第4図(a)乃至第4図(d)は、それぞれ本発
明による振動ユニット1に設けたスリット10の実施例
を示す斜視図で、(a)図は、スリットをU字型にした
例、(b)図は7字型にした例、(c)図は角形にした
例、(d)図は液流路部のスリットを大きくした例であ
るが、もちろん、スリット10は図示例のものに限定さ
れるものではない。
効   果 以上の説明から明らかなように、本発明によると、振動
ユニットの変位によって得られた体積変化を圧力変化と
して記録液に伝達する過程での圧力ロスを減少させ、液
滴速度を上昇させることができるので、印字時のドツト
の位置ずれを減少させることができ、印字品質を向上さ
せることができる。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 圧電素子に弾性板を配置して変位の方向を決定させるよ
    うにした振動ユニットを有し、該振動ユニットは電気的
    に絶縁されて記録液中に配置されるとともにノズルに連
    通する記録液流路に平行に配置され、ノズルに対して反
    対側の一端で固定支持され、駆動時に記録液流路の長手
    方向に対して垂直方向に変位して前記記録液に圧力変化
    を伝達してノズルより液滴を噴射するインクジェット記
    録ヘッドにおいて、前記振動ユニットの記録液流路側の
    面に記録液流路の方向にスリットを有することを特徴と
    するインクジェット記録ヘッド。
