Claims (4)
- 感光層を有し、表面に静電潜像が形成される像担持体と、
前記像担持体の表面を帯電させる帯電部と、
トナーと磁性キャリアとを含む二成分現像剤中の前記トナーを表面に担持する現像剤担持体を有し、前記像担持体に形成された前記静電潜像に前記トナーを付着させてトナー像を形成する現像部と、
直流電圧に交流電圧を重畳した現像電圧を前記現像剤担持体に印加する現像電源と、
前記現像電圧を前記現像剤担持体に印加したときに前記現像剤担持体と前記像担持体との間で流れる現像電流を検出する電流検出部と、
前記像担持体、前記帯電部、前記現像部及び前記現像電源の動作を制御する制御部と、
を備え、
前記制御部は、
前記電流検出部による前記現像電流の検出を、非画像形成時に、前記像担持体の非露光領域を利用して実行し、
前記帯電部によって前記像担持体の表面を帯電させ、前記現像電源によって前記現像電圧を前記現像剤担持体に印加したとき、前記電流検出部によって検出された前記現像電流に基づいてキャリア抵抗を導出し、当該キャリア抵抗に基づいて前記交流電圧の交流振幅を制御することを特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 前記制御部は、前記キャリア抵抗が高くなるほど前記交流振幅を大きくすることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像形成装置。
- 前記制御部は、前記交流振幅を、画像濃度飽和電圧以上であって前記像担持体表面にリークが発生しない範囲に設定することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の画像形成装置。
- 前記像担持体の前記感光層は、アモルファスシリコン感光層であることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のいずれかに記載の画像形成装置。
