Description
(実施例1)
(1)正極板24の作製
2.5質量%の亜鉛と1.0質量%のコバルトを含有する水酸化ニッケル粉末を硫酸コバルト水溶液に投入した。次いで、この硫酸コバルト水溶液を攪拌しながら1mol/lの水酸化ナトリウム水溶液を徐々に滴下して反応させ、この反応中、PHが11に維持されるようにしながら沈殿物を生成させた。次いで、生成した沈殿物を濾別して、水洗したのち真空乾燥することにより、水酸化ニッケル粒子の表面が5質量%の水酸化コバルトで被覆された水酸化ニッケル粉末を得た。
La、Sm、Mg、Ni、Alの各金属材料を所定のモル比となるように混合した後、誘導溶解炉に投入して溶解させ、これを冷却してインゴットを作製した。
得られた正極板24及び負極板26を、これらの間にセパレータ28を挟んだ状態で渦巻き状に巻回し、渦状電極群22を作製した。渦状電極群22の作製に使用したセパレータ28は、スルホン基を有するポリプロピレン繊維製不織布から成り、その厚みは0.1mm(目付量53g/m2)であった。
調整工程により、正極板24と対向する側(外周側)の第1負極合剤層26eの端縁部26lの厚さ(D1)を0.17mmとする第1負極合剤層26eを得た。その他は実施例1と同じ条件で渦状電極群22を作製した。
調整工程により、正極板24と対向する側(外周側)の第1負極合剤層26eの端縁部26lの厚さ(D1)を0.19mmとする第1負極合剤層26eを得た。その他は実施例1と同じ条件で渦状電極群22を作製した。

実施例1~3、比較例1~5の渦状電極群22を10本ずつ解体し、バリ26iによるセパレータ28の突き破り発生本数、負極板26のバリ26iの高さ(H)、第1負極合剤層の厚さ(D1)の関係を、表1に示す。なお、正極板24と対向する側(外周側)の第1負極合剤層26eの端縁部26lの厚さD1、正極板24と対向しない側(内周側)の第2負極合剤層26fの端縁部26lの厚さD3、セパレータ28の厚さD4、及び第1負極合剤層26eの巻始端38からの距離Lは、渦状電極群22が形成される前後においてに変化しない。

Claims (6)
- 帯状の正極板と、帯状の負極板と、前記正極板及び前記負極板の間に配置された帯状のセパレータとが互いに重ね合わされて渦巻き状に形成された渦状電極群であって、該渦状電極群の最内周部分において前記負極板が前記正極板より内周側に位置するように形成された渦状電極群と、
該渦状電極群がアルカリ電解液とともに収容された導電性を有する外装缶と、を備え、
前記負極板は、帯状の負極芯体と、該負極芯体の外周側の面に坦持された第1負極合剤層と、前記負極芯体の内周側の面に坦持された第2負極合剤層とを有しており、前記負極芯体は、該負極芯体の最内周部分の端縁部において外周側に向かって突出するバリを有し、
前記第1負極合剤層の最内周部分の端縁部の厚さは前記第1負極合剤層の前記端縁部以外の部分の厚さより薄く、且つ、前記バリの高さは前記セパレータの厚さの30%以下である、ことを特徴とするアルカリ蓄電池。 - 前記第1負極合剤層の前記端縁部は、0.19mm以下の厚さを有する、請求項1記載のアルカリ蓄電池。
- 前記第1負極合剤層の前記端縁部は、前記第1負極合剤層の最内周部分の端縁から0.6mm以上10mm以下の距離を有する、請求項1又は2記載のアルカリ蓄電池。
- 請求項1から3までのいずれか1項記載のアルカリ蓄電池の製造方法であって、
長手方向及び短手方向を有する帯状の負極芯体素地の一方の面に第1負極合剤層を塗工し、前記負極芯体素地の他方の面に第2負極合剤層を塗工する塗工工程と、
該塗工工程の後、前記負極芯体素地と前記第1負極合剤層と前記第2負極合剤層とを、前記負極芯体素地の短手方向の中央において長手方向に切断し、且つ、前記負極芯体素地の短手方向に切断し、帯状の負極板を作製する切断工程と、
該切断工程の後、前記負極板と、帯状の正極板と、前記正極板及び前記負極板の間に配置された帯状のセパレータとを重ね合わせて渦巻き状の渦状電極群を作製する巻回工程であって、前記渦状電極群の最内周部分において前記負極板が前記正極板より内周側に位置するように渦状電極群を作製する巻回工程と、
該巻回工程の後、前記渦状電極群をアルカリ電解液とともに導電性を有する外装缶に挿入する挿入工程と、を備え、
前記塗工工程の後であって前記切断工程の前に調整工程を備え、該調整工程において、前記負極芯体素地の前記中央を含む第1領域における前記第1負極合剤層の厚さが、前記第1領域以外の第2領域における前記第1負極合剤層の厚さより薄くなるように、前記第1負極合剤層を調整し、
前記巻回工程において、前記第1負極合剤層が前記負極板において外周側に位置し、且つ前記切断工程で切断された前記負極芯体素地の前記中央が前記負極板の最内周部分の端縁となるように渦状電極群を作製する、ことを特徴とするアルカリ蓄電池の製造方法。 - 前記調整工程において、前記第1領域における前記第1負極合剤層の厚さが0.19mm以下となるように、前記第1負極合剤層を調整する、請求項4記載の製造方法。
- 前記調整工程において、前記第1領域の範囲が、前記負極芯体素地の前記短手方向の前記中央から前記短手方向に夫々0.6mm以上10mm以下となるように、前記第1負極合剤層を調整する、請求項4又は5記載の製造方法。
