Description
本出願は、2017年12月22日に提出された大韓民国特許出願第10-2017-0178108号に基づく優先権の利益を主張し、該当韓国特許出願の文献に開示されたすべての内容は本明細書の一部として組み込まれる。
本出願は、液晶セル、その製造方法及びその用途に関する。
液晶セルの製造
ITO(Indium Tin Oxide)透明電極層と垂直配向膜が順次に形成されている2枚のガラス基板を、前記垂直配向膜が互いに対向し、間隔が約9μm程度になるように離隔配置させた後、前記離隔配置された2枚のガラス基板の間に110℃で30時間加熱した液晶組成物を注入し、エッジ(edge)をシーリングして面積2.5cm×3.0cm及び間隔9μmである液晶セルを製作した。
液晶セルの製造
液晶組成物の組成及び加熱条件を下記表1のように変更したこと以外は、実施例1と同一の方式で液晶セルを製造した。
液晶セルの製造
液晶組成物として、下記表1に示した誘電率異方性がー5.0であり、屈折率異方性が0.1995である常用液晶LC2(HCCH 7262、HCCH社製)、異方性染料(X12、BASF社製)、反応性液晶として4-メトキシフェニル4-((6-(アクリロイルオキシ)ヘキシル)オキシ)ベンゾエート(HCM-021、HCCH社製)及びイオン性化合物としてCTAB(セチルトリメチルアンモニウムブロマイド)を90:1.4:10:1(LC2:異方性染料:RM:CTAB)の重量割合で混合したこと以外は、実施例 1と同一の方式で液晶セルを製造した。
実施例及び比較例で製造された液晶セルに対して、下記表2の駆動波形を有する半導体特性分析器のKeithly 4200を用いて瞬間電流-電圧(I- V)を測定した。具体的に、実施例及び比較例で製造された液晶セルの対向配置された2個の基板に40V、60Hzの交流電圧を印加したとき流れる電流を測定し、図5に示した。このとき、安定化のために5番目のサイクル(Cycle)後に測定された電流値を取った。電圧を印加した後、8msでの電流を面積で分けた値を最終電流密度とし、0msから8msまで測定された電流密度の平均値を平均電流密度で決めた。前記電流密度の測定時に現われる電流密度のピーク時点及び測定された電流密度の平均値を下記表3に示した。このとき、前記電流密度ピークは、0.5ms以後の電流密度値のうち最大値を意味する。
実施例及び比較例で製造された液晶セルに対して、ヘイズメーター、NDH-5000SPを用い、ASTM方式でヘイズ及び透過率を測定した。具体的に、実施例及び比較例で製造された液晶セルに垂直電界を印加するように対向配置された2個の基板にAC電源を連結し、初期電圧の非印加時の透過モード及び60V、60Hzの電圧を印加した散乱モードでのヘイズを測定し、下記表3に示した。また、前記透過率は、初期電圧の非印加時(0V)の透過モードでの透過率と60V、60Hzの電圧を印加した散乱モードでの透過率を測定した後、これらの差を下記一般式1に示したように透過度可変幅で決め、下記表3に示した。

Claims (14)
- 対向配置された2個の基板と、
前記2個の基板の間に存在し、時間による電流密度の測定時の電流密度ピークが2ms以後に現われる液晶層と、を含み、
透過モードと散乱モードとの間をスイッチングし、
前記液晶層は、非反応性液晶及び伝導度調節剤を含む、
液晶セル(ただし、前記電流密度は、40V電圧及び60Hzの周波数の交流電圧を9μmの間隔の液晶セルに印加した後、5番目のサイクル(Cycle)で正の半サイクルの間測定された値であり、前記電流密度ピークは、0.5ms以後の電流密度値のうち最大値を有する時間を意味する)。 - 前記非反応性液晶は、誘電率異方性が負数である、請求項1に記載の液晶セル。
- 前記伝導度調節剤は、異方性染料、反応性液晶及びイオン性化合物から選択される一つ以上を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の液晶セル。
- 前記伝導度調節剤は、前記非反応性液晶100重量部に対して、0.1重量部~30重量部の割合で含まれる、請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶セル。
- 前記液晶層は、初期状態で透過モードを具現し、電圧印加時に散乱モードを具現する、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の液晶セル。
- 前記液晶層は、初期状態の透過率と60Vの電圧を印加したときの透過率との差が40%以上である、請求項5に記載の液晶セル。
- 前記液晶層は、60Vの電圧を印加したときにヘイズが90%以上である、請求項5又は6に記載の液晶セル。
- 前記2個の基板は、それぞれ電極層及び垂直配向膜を含む、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の液晶セル。
- 対向配置された2個の基板と、前記2個の基板の間に存在する液晶層と、を含む液晶セルの製造方法であって、
前記液晶層の時間による電流密度の測定時の電流密度ピークが2ms以後に現われるように調節することを含み、
前記液晶セルは、透過モードと散乱モードとの間をスイッチングし、
前記液晶層は、非反応性液晶及び伝導度調節剤を含む、
液晶セルの製造方法(ただし、前記電流密度は、40V電圧及び60Hzの周波数の交流電圧を9μmの間隔の液晶セルに印加した後、5番目のサイクル(Cycle)で正の半サイクルの間測定された値であり、前記電流密度ピークは、0.5ms以後の電流密度値のうち最大値を有する時間を意味する)。 - 前記液晶セルは、2個の基板の間に加熱した液晶組成物を注入し、エッジをシーリングすることによって製造される、請求項9に記載の液晶セルの製造方法。
- 前記液晶組成物は、前記非反応性液晶と、前記伝導度調節剤として異方性染料及び反応性液晶と、を含み、前記加熱は、100℃~120℃の温度で25時間~30時間の間行う、請求項10に記載の液晶セルの製造方法。
- 前記液晶組成物は、前記非反応性液晶と、前記伝導度調節剤として異方性染料、反応性液晶及びイオン性化合物と、を含み、前記反応性液晶を2.5wt%~7.5wt%で含む場合、前記加熱は、100℃~120℃の温度で30分~15時間の間行う、請求項10に記載の液晶セルの製造方法。
- 前記液晶組成物は、前記非反応性液晶と、前記伝導度調節剤として異方性染料、反応性液晶及びイオン性化合物と、を含み、前記反応性液晶を7.5wt%~12.5wt%で含む場合、前記加熱は、100℃~120℃の温度で30分~4時間の間行う、請求項10に記載の液晶セルの製造方法。
- 請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の液晶セルを含む、光変調装置。
