前記ナノ粒子が、前記クラッド中、少なくとも1.0容積%の濃度を有することを特徴とする、実施形態29~31のいずれかに記載の光拡散素子。
前記クラッドが第2の散乱中心をさらに含み、該第2の散乱中心が、ガスで満たされており25nm~40μmの寸法の断面を有する内部ボイドを含むことを特徴とする、実施形態29~32のいずれかに記載の光拡散素子。
前記素子が、少なくとも0.5dB/mの光散乱損失を示すことを特徴とする、実施形態1~33のいずれかに記載の光拡散素子。
前記素子が、少なくとも0.4の開口数を有することを特徴とする、実施形態1~34のいずれかに記載の光拡散素子。
前記クラッドを取り囲む保護コーティングをさらに含むことを特徴とする、実施形態1~35のいずれかに記載の光拡散素子。
光拡散素子に光学的に結合した光源を備えた照明システムであって、前記光拡散素子が、
65μmを超える直径を有するガラスコアと、
前記ガラスコアを取り囲むクラッドであって、前記ガラスコアより低い屈折率を有し、かつ、少なくとも25nmの寸法の断面を有する第1の散乱中心を含む、クラッドと
を備え、
前記素子が、少なくとも0.1dB/mの光散乱損失を示す、
照明システム。
前記光源が、LED又はレーザダイオードであることを特徴とする、実施形態37に記載の照明システム。

少なくとも25nmの寸法の断面を有する第1の散乱中心を含むクラッドを、前記コア上に形成する工程と
を含む、光拡散素子を形成する方法。
前記コアを形成する工程が、ガラスプリフォームを延伸する工程を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態39に記載の方法。
前記ガラスプリフォームを延伸する工程が、さらに前記クラッドを形成する工程を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態40に記載の方法。
前記クラッドを形成する工程が、前記コアに硬化性組成物を施し、前記硬化性組成物を硬化する工程を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態40又は41に記載の方法。
前記クラッドを形成する工程が、ボイド生成ガスの存在下で前記硬化性組成物を硬化する工程を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態42に記載の方法。
前記硬化性組成物が、エチレン性不飽和基を含む放射線硬化性成分を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態42又は43に記載の方法。
前記第1の散乱中心がナノ粒子であり、前記硬化性組成物が前記ナノ粒子をさらに含むことを特徴とする、実施形態42~44のいずれかに記載の方法。

Claims (11)
- 65μmを超える直径を有し、かつ内部ボイドを含むガラスコアと、
(i)前記ガラスコアを取り囲み、(ii)前記ガラスコアより低い屈折率を有するとともに、(iii)少なくとも25nmの寸法の断面を有する第1の散乱中心を含むクラッドとを備え、
少なくとも0.1dB/mの光散乱損失を示し、
前記内部ボイドが、前記コアの断面全体に亘って分布しており、
前記散乱中心が、(i)前記クラッド全体に分布される;および/または(ii)前記コア/クラッドの境界に、あるいはエバネッセント光が前記コアから前記クラッドに入る程度に前記コア/クラッドに近接して配置される、
光拡散素子。 - 前記クラッドがガラスを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記第1の散乱中心が、ガスによって満たされており50nm~20μmの寸法の断面を有する内部ボイドを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記クラッド中の前記内部ボイドの濃度が、少なくとも1容積%であることを特徴とする、請求項3に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記クラッドがポリマーを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記ポリマーがフッ素を含むことを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記第1の散乱中心が、ガスで満たされており25nm~40μmの寸法の断面を有する内部ボイドを含むことを特徴とする、請求項5又は6に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記クラッド中の前記内部ボイドの濃度が、少なくとも1.0容積%であることを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の光拡散素子。
- 前記第1の散乱中心が、少なくとも25nmの寸法の断面を有するナノ粒子を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1~8のいずれかに記載の光拡散素子。
- 光拡散素子に光学的に結合した光源を備えた照明システムであって、前記光拡散素子が、
65μmを超える直径を有しかつ内部ボイドを含むガラスコアと、
(i)前記ガラスコアを取り囲み、(ii)前記ガラスコアより低い屈折率を有するとともに、(iii)少なくとも25nmの寸法の断面を有する第1の散乱中心を含むクラッドとを備え、
前記素子が、少なくとも0.1dB/mの光散乱損失を示し、
前記内部ボイドが、前記コアの断面全体に亘って分布しており、
前記散乱中心が、(i)前記クラッド全体に分布される;および/または(ii)前記コア/クラッドの境界に、あるいはエバネッセント光が前記コアから前記クラッドに入る程度に前記コア/クラッドに近接して配置される、
照明システム。 - 請求項1記載の光拡散素子を形成する方法であって、
ガラスを含むコアを形成する工程であって、ガラスプリフォームを延伸することを含み、前記コアが該コアの断面全体を通じて分布される内部ボイドを含む工程と、
少なくとも25nmの寸法の断面を有する第1の散乱中心を含むクラッドを前記コア上に形成する工程であって、前記コアに硬化性組成物を施し、該硬化性組成物を硬化することを含む工程と
を含むことを特徴とする光拡散素子を形成する方法。
