図1は、電池100の斜視図である。図2は、図1のII-II線に沿う模式的な縦断面図である。図3は、図1のIII-III線に沿う模式的な縦断面図である。図4は、図1のIV-IV線に沿う模式的な横断面図である。なお、以下の説明において、図面中の符号L、R、F、Rr、U、Dは、左、右、前、後、上、下を表し、図面中の符号X、Y、Zは、電池100の短辺方向、短辺方向と直交する長辺方向、上下方向を、それぞれ表すものとする。長辺方向は、捲回軸方向の一例である。ただし、これらは説明の便宜上の方向に過ぎず、電池100の設置形態を何ら限定するものではない。
電池100の製造方法は、上記したような捲回電極体20a、20b、20cを用いることで特徴付けられる。それ以外の製造プロセスは従来同様であってよい。電池100は、正極絶縁部材70と負極絶縁部材80とに加えて、上記したような電池ケース10(外装体12および封口板14)と、電極体群20(捲回電極体20a、20b、20c)と、電解液と、正極端子30と、負極端子40と、正極集電部50(正極第1集電部51および正極第2集電部52)と、負極集電部60(負極第1集電部61および負極第2集電部62)と、を用意し、例えば、第1取付工程と、第2取付工程と、挿入工程と、封口工程と、をこの順に含む製造方法によって製造することができる。また、ここに開示される製造方法は、任意の段階でさらに他の工程を含んでもよい。
以上のようにして、電池100を製造することができる。

- 底壁と、前記底壁から延び相互に対向する一対の第1側壁と、前記底壁から延び相互に対向する一対の第2側壁と、前記底壁に対向する開口と、を有する外装体と、
前記外装体の前記開口を封口する封口板と、
帯状の正極と帯状の負極とが帯状のセパレータを介して積層され、捲回軸を中心に捲回されてなる1つまたは複数の捲回電極体と、
前記捲回電極体の捲回軸方向の端部に設けられた複数の正極タブを含み、前記正極と電気的に接続された正極タブ群と、
前記捲回電極体の前記捲回軸方向の端部に設けられた複数の負極タブを含み、前記負極と電気的に接続された負極タブ群と、
を備え、
前記捲回電極体は、外表面が湾曲している一対の湾曲部と、一対の前記湾曲部を連結し外表面が平坦な平坦部と、を有する扁平形状であり、一方の前記湾曲部が前記封口板と対向し、他方の前記湾曲部が前記外装体の前記底壁と対向するように前記外装体に収容されており、
ここで、前記捲回電極体の前記捲回軸に対して垂直で、かつ、前記底壁に対して垂直な直線を直線L1としたときに、

前記スペーサで前記捲回電極体を前記外装体の内部に押し込む挿入工程と、
前記外装体の前記開口を前記封口板で封口する封口工程と、

前記挿入工程では、前記捲回電極体における前記スペーサにより押圧される領域の少なくとも一部において、前記負極の最外周に位置する部分が、前記セパレータを介し、かつ前記正極を介さずに、前記負極の捲回内周側に位置する部分と対向しているようにする、
