Abstract
Description
項1. 高分子化合物を含む二次電池用結着剤であって、
前記高分子化合物は、アクリル系繰り返し単位を含み、
前記高分子化合物の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数が、10以上400以下である、二次電池用結着剤。
項2. 前記高分子化合物は、下記式(1)で表される繰り返し単位を含む、項1に記載の二次電池用結着剤。
項3. 前記高分子化合物は、架橋構造を有する、項1又は2に記載の二次電池用結着剤
項4. 項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池用結着剤と、活物質と、を含む、二次電池電極用合剤。
項5. 前記活物質が、炭素材料を含む、項4に記載の二次電池電極用合剤。
項6. 前記活物質が、ケイ素及びケイ素酸化物のうち少なくとも一方を含む、項4又は5に記載の二次電池電極用合剤。
項7. 項4〜6のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池電極用合剤を含む、二次電池用電極。
項8. 項7に記載の二次電池用電極を含む、二次電池。
項9. 項7に記載の二次電池用電極を含む、リチウムイオン二次電池。
本発明の二次電池用結着剤は、高分子化合物を含む二次電池用結着剤である。高分子化合物は、アクリル系繰り返し単位を含む。また、高分子化合物の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数は、10〜400の範囲内にある。本発明の二次電池用結着剤は、高分子化合物がこのような構成を充足することにより、優れた結着性を発揮する。ハーゼン色数と結着力との関係については、次のように考えることができる。すなわち、アクリル系繰り返し単位を含む高分子化合物は、これら繰り返し単位を形成する各モノマーを共重合した場合、未反応のモノマーによる着色が生じやすく、着色が大きくなるとハーゼン色数も大きくなる。また、架橋した高分子化合物は、水への溶解性が低下し、高分子化合物を含む水溶液は濁りを生じ、そのハーゼン色数は大きくなる。本発明においては、高分子化合物の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数が10〜400という特定の範囲内に設定されており、モノマー残による着色と、架橋による水への溶解性の低下とが適度に生じており、このことが結着力の向上に繋がっていると考えられる。例えば、高分子化合物の架橋構造の形成を抑制し、直鎖状に共重合させた場合、ハーゼン色数は10を下回る無色透明となる。このような高分子化合物を用いた結着剤は、本発明の高分子化合物を含む結着剤と比較して、結着力に劣る。
本発明の二次電池電極用合剤(以下、「電極用合剤」と表記することがある)は、前記の本発明の二次電池用結着剤と、活物質とを含むことを特徴とする。前述の通り、本発明の結着剤は、結着力に優れているため、活物質と共に二次電池電極用合剤として好適に使用することができる。
活物質は、電極活物質であり、負極活物質または正極活物質が挙げられる。活物質は、例えば負極活物質である場合には、例えば炭素材料などを含むことができ、また、例えばケイ素及びケイ素酸化物のうち少なくとも一方を含むことができる。負極活物質及び正極活物質の具体的材料について、以下に例示する。
負極活物質としては、特に制限されず、本技術分野で使用される負極活物質を使用でき、例えば、結晶質炭素や非晶質炭素等の炭素材料を使用することができる。結晶質炭素の例としては、無定形、板状、鱗片状(flake)、球状もしくは繊維状の天然黒鉛または人造黒鉛のような黒鉛が挙げられる。非晶質炭素の例としては、ソフトカーボン(易黒鉛化性炭素)またはハードカーボン(難黒鉛化性炭素)、メソフェーズピッチ炭化物、焼成されたコークス等が挙げられる。また、負極活物質として、ケイ素(Si)、スズ(Sn)、Ti(チタン)などのようにリチウムイオンを大量に吸蔵放出可能な材料を用いることができる。このような材料であれば、単体、合金、化合物、固溶体およびケイ素含有材料、スズ含有材料、チタン含有材料を含む複合活物質のいずれであっても、本発明の効果を発揮させることは可能である。ケイ素含有材料としては、Si、SiOx(0.05<x<1.95)、またはこれらのいずれかにB、Mg、Ni、Ti、Mo、Co、Ca、Cr、Cu、Fe、Mn、Nb、Ta、V、W、Zn、C、N、及びSnからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つ以上の元素でSiの一部を置換した合金や化合物、または固溶体などを用いることができる。これらはケイ素又はケイ素酸化物ということができる。スズ含有材料としてはNi2Sn4、Mg2Sn、SnOx(0<x<2)、SnO2、SnSiO3、LiSnOなどが適用できる。チタン含有材料としてはLi2TiO3,Li4Ti5O12等のチタン酸リチウム、チタンニオブ複合化合物等が適用できる。これらの材料は、一種を単独で使用することもできるし、二種以上を組み合わせて使用することもできる。これらの中でも、Si単体や酸化ケイ素などのケイ素又はケイ素酸化物が好ましい。

正極活物質としては、特に制限されず、本技術分野で使用される正極活物質を使用でき、正極活物質は、リチウム含有複合酸化物であってもよい。リチウム含有複合酸化物は、例えば、LiMnO2、LiFeO2、LiCoO2、LiMn2O4、Li2FeSiO4、LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2、LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2、LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2、LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2、LiNixCoyMzO2(但し、0.01<x<1、0≦y≦1、0≦z≦1、x+y+z=1であり、MはMn、V、Mg、Mo、Nb、Fe、Cu及びAlからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の元素である。)、LiFePO4等が挙げられる。
導電助剤としては、特に制限されず、本技術分野で使用される導電助剤を使用することができる。導電助剤としては、導電性を有するものであれば特に限定されないが、炭素粉末が好ましい。炭素粉末としては、通常用いられているもの、例えば、アセチレンブラック(AB)、ケッチェンブラック(KB)、黒鉛、カーボンファイバー、カーボンチューブ、グラフェン、非晶質炭素、ハードカーボン、ソフトカーボン、グラッシーカーボン、カーボンナノファイバー、カーボンナノチューブ等の炭素材料が挙げられる。これらは一種を単独で用いてもよいし、又は二種以上を併用してもよい。
本発明の電極用合剤は、さらに分散助剤を含んでいてもよい。分散助剤としては、特に制限されず、ヒドロキシル基、アミノ基及びイミノ基からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも一種の置換基と、カルボキシ基とを含む有機酸、又はフミン酸が好ましい。ヒドロキシル基とカルボキシ基とを有する有機酸としては、例えば、乳酸、酒石酸、クエン酸、リンゴ酸、グリコール酸、タルトロン酸、グルクロン酸、フミン酸などが挙げられる。アミノ基とカルボキシル基とを有する有機酸としては、例えば、グリシン、アラニン、フェニルアラニン、4−アミノ酪酸、ロイシン、イソロイシン、リジン、グルタミン酸、アスパラギン酸、グルタミン、アスパラギン、ヒスチジン、トリプトファン、システイン、およびこれらのポリマーなどが挙げられる。イミノ基とカルボキシル基とを有する有機酸としては、例えば、プロリン、3−ヒドロキシプロリン、4−ヒドロキシプロリン、ピペコリン酸などが挙げられる。これらの中でも、入手のしやすさの観点から、グルクロン酸、フミン酸、グリシン、ポリグリシン、アスパラギン酸、グルタミン酸が好ましい。
本発明の二次電池用電極(以下、「電極」と表記することがある)は、前述の本発明の二次電池電極用合剤を含む。本発明の電極は、本発明の二次電池電極用合剤を利用し(すなわち、本発明の結着剤を利用し)、本技術分野で使用される手法によって作製される。すなわち、本発明の電極は、例えば、本発明の電極用合剤を集電体に塗布し、乾燥させることによって作製することができる。
本発明の二次電池は、前述の本発明の二次電池用電極を含む。本発明の二次電池は、正極及び負極のいずれか一方又は両方として、本発明の二次電池用電極を備えるものであればよい。本発明の二次電池の製造方法としては、本発明の二次電池用電極を利用し(すなわち、本発明の結着剤を利用し)、本技術分野で使用される手法によって作製される。
(製造例1)
攪拌機、温度計、N2ガス導入管、還流冷却機および滴下ロートを備えた反応槽に、水768質量部および無水硫酸ナトリウム12質量部を仕込み、N2ガスを吹き込んで系内を脱酸素した。続いて、部分ケン化ポリビニルアルコール(ケン化度88%)1質量部およびラウリルパーオキシド1質量部を仕込み、アクリル酸メチル51.8質量部および酢酸ビニル208質量部を分割添加し、内温を60℃まで段階的に昇温した。その後、内温を65℃で2時間保持した。その後、固形分を濾別した。上記同様の反応槽に、上記固形分、メタノール450質量部、水420質量部、水酸化ナトリウム132質量部、ヒドラジン0.52質量部を仕込み、30℃で3時間攪拌した。攪拌終了後、固体を濾別後、メタノールで洗浄し、70℃で8時間乾燥し、ビニルアルコール/アクリル酸エステル共重合体(二次電池用結着剤)を取得した。得られた共重合体について、以下の条件で1H−NMR(BRUKER)測定を行った結果、前記式(1)及び(2)で表される各繰り返し単位に由来する構造を含んでいることが確認された。
得られた共重合体2gを測りとり、重水33gを添加し、90℃で3時間、加熱溶解する。得られた重水溶液を下記条件にてNMR測定を実施した。

測定法:1H−NMR
測定核周波数:bf1(400.1300000)
スペクトル幅:Sw(20.5524)
観測ポイント:td(65536)
データポイント:Si(65536)
測定温度:27℃
得られた共重合体0.6gを測りとり、水19.4gを添加し、80℃で3時間加熱溶解して、各共重合体の3質量%水溶液を得た。得られた3質量%水溶液を測定サンプルとし、27℃の環境において、ハーゼンメーター Type:HM−IV(株式会社エックス電子設計)を用いて、測定サンプルのハーゼン色数測定を実施した。結果を表1に示す。
製造例1において、アクリル酸メチルを104質量部、酢酸ビニルを156質量部としたこと以外は、製造例1と同様に実施し、ビニルアルコール/アクリル酸エステル共重合体(二次電池用結着剤)を取得した。得られた共重合体について、前記と同様にして1H−NMR(BRUKER)測定を行った結果、前記式(1)及び(2)で表される各繰り返し単位構造を含んでいることが確認された。また、製造例1と同様にして、得られた共重合体の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数の測定を行った。結果を表1に示す。
製造例1における重合触媒として、ラウリルパーオキシド1質量部の代わりに、アゾ系重合触媒(V−65:2,2’−アゾビス(2,4−ジメチルバレロニトリル))を用いたこと以外は、製造例1と同様にして、ビニルアルコール/エチレン性不飽和カルボン酸エステル共重合体(二次電池用結着剤)を取得した。得られた共重合体について、前記と同様にして1H−NMR(BRUKER)測定を行った結果、前記式(1)及び(2)で表される各繰り返し単位に由来する構造を含んでいることが確認された。また、製造例1と同様にして、得られた共重合体の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数の測定を行った。結果を表1に示す。
製造例1と同様にして、ビニルアルコール/アクリル酸エステル共重合体(二次電池用結着剤)を取得した。得られた共重合体0.6gを測りとり、水19.4gを添加し、80℃で3時間加熱溶解して、共重合体の3質量%水溶液を得た。この溶液に、金属系架橋剤(TC−400,松本ファインケミカル製)を1質量%加え、共重合体を架橋させ、ハーゼン色数の測定を行った。結果を表1に示す。
製造例1と同様にして、ビニルアルコール/アクリル酸エステル共重合体(二次電池用結着剤)を取得した。得られた共重合体について、前記と同様にして1H−NMR(BRUKER)測定を行った結果、前記式(1)及び(2)で表される各繰り返し単位に由来する構造を含んでいることが確認された。また、製造例1と同様にして、得られた共重合体の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数の測定を行った。結果を表1に示す。なお、製造例1と製造例5は、同様にして共重合体を製造したが、得られた共重合体の3質量%水溶液のハーゼン色数は79と16であった。これは、共重合体の製造過程における操作によって生じたものと考えられる。
(実施例1)
製造例1で得られた共重合体4質量部を水96質量部に溶解させ、結着剤(結着剤組成物)の水溶液を得た。次に、電極活物質として人造黒鉛(日立化成株式会社製、MAG−D)90.2質量部、一酸化ケイ素(大阪チタニウムテクノロジーズ)6.8質量部および結着剤水溶液75質量部に加え混練した。さらに、粘度調製用の水96質量部を添加して混練することで、スラリー状の負極合剤を調製した。得られた負極合剤を厚さ18μmの圧延銅箔上に塗布し、乾燥させた後、ロールプレス機(大野ロール株式会社製)により、圧延銅箔と塗膜とを密着接合させ、次に加熱処理(減圧、120℃、12時間以上)を行って負極を作製した。得られた負極における活物質層の厚みは42μmであり、当該負極の容量密度は3.24mAh/cm2であった。
結着剤として製造例2で得られた共重合体を使用したこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製した。
結着剤として製造例4で得られた共重合体を使用したこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製した。
結着剤として製造例5で得られた共重合体を使用したこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製した。
結着剤として製造例3で得られた共重合体を使用したこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製した。
既存の二次電池用結着剤として、スチレンブタジエンゴム(SBR)/カルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)=50/50(質量比)を使用したこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製した。
実施例1−4及び比較例1−2で得られた負極について、それぞれ、集電極である銅箔から活物質層を剥離したときの剥離強度(N/15mm)を測定し、結着力とした。具体的な方法として、負極を幅80mm×15mmに切り出して粘着テープを表面(負極活物質層側)に貼り付けた後、両面テープでステンレス製の板に貼り付け負極(集電体側)を固定し、これを評価用サンプルとした。この評価用サンプルを用いて引張試験機(株式会社島津製作所製 小型卓上試験機EZ−SX)にてステンレス製の板に対する負極の90度剥離試験(ステンレス製の板に固定した負極に対する粘着テープの90度剥離試験)を実施し、負極における活物質層と集電体間の剥離強度を測定した。表1に剥離試験(剥離強度)の評価結果を示す。
