Description
本発明は、バリア層と半透性層(semi-permeable layer)とを含む、揮発性物質の拡散のための多層構造体に関する。
半透膜を有する揮発性物質の拡散システムはよく知られている。これらのシステムは、液相ではなく気相にて前記物質の放出を可能とする膜を含む。
この膜はモノリシック(monolithic)であっても微孔性(micro-porous)であっても良い。モノリシック膜の場合、内側から外側への物質の移動は透過性によって行われ、当該膜が微孔性である場合には、この移動は主に毛管現象によって行われる。
両方の種類の膜について、いくつかの解決策が提案されており、中程度から非常に高い性能を有することが実証されている。それにもかかわらず、この膜自体は、たとえ最も重要なものであっても、半透膜を有する揮発性物質拡散器を製造するためのシステムの一部にすぎない。
このシステムのもう一つの重要な部分は、消費者による最初の使用前に揮発性物質の蒸発を回避する部分である。
これは一般に、前記膜の上にバリア層を設けることで行われ、このバリア層は使用者が製品を初めて使用したいとき、使用者により簡単に剥がして取り去られる。
半透性層または膜と、バリア層との間の界面強度である臨界点が存在する。この界面強度は、製造中または保管中の拡散器の偶発的なアクティブ化（バリア／膜分離）を回避するために十分に高くなければならない。さらに、それは、揮発性物質が膜を通過するときに界面に達して前に進む揮発性物質により生じる圧力に打ち勝つよう十分に高くなければならない。
界面強度は、バリアを剥離するための機械を必要とせずに、使用者によるスムースな剥離を可能にするのに十分に低くなければならない。
考慮すべきもう一つの点は、揮発性物質が化学的に攻撃的である場合に、界面を弱めてはいけないということであり、なぜなら、揮発性物質が界面に到達した後に耐えられなければならないからである。
膜とバリア層との間の不適切な界面強度の１つの典型的な欠点は、膜を通過した後に揮発性物質が、膜とバリア層との間に液体を蓄積するための空間を作り出すことが可能なことであり、これは、バリア層が取り去られた時に、重大な漏出を生じることになる。
したがって、半透性層からバリア層を容易かつ確実に取り去ることができ、バリア層と半透性層との間の適切な界面強度を可能にする、揮発性物質の拡散のための多層構造体の必要性が明らかである。
本発明による多層構造体を用いて、上記の欠点を解決することができ、以下に記載される他の利点を示す。
本発明による揮発性物質拡散器のための多層構造体は、揮発性物質と接触することができる半透性層と、多層構造体から取り去られる前に揮発性物質の拡散を防ぐためのバリア層とを含み、しかも、バリア層と半透性層との間に配置された引き裂き層も含み、これによって、バリア層が多層構造体から取り去られる時に、半透性層からバリア層を分離することが可能になることを特徴とする。
好ましくは、前記引き裂き層は異相層(heterophasic layer)である。異相とは、引き裂き層が、高い機械的抵抗性の領域と、境界として機能する高い抵抗性の領域を取り囲んでいる低い抵抗性の領域とから構成されることを意味する。
２つの好ましい実施形態によれば、前記引き裂き層は、ポリエチレンテレフタレートまたはセルロース等の粒子または繊維を含むことができ、その場合、引き裂き層の前記繊維はバインダーによって互いに接合される。
前記引き裂き層は、バリア層および／または半透性層に接着、熱ラミネートまたは溶接することができる。
好ましくは、前記引き裂き層は揮発性物質に対して透過性であり、その厚さは２０〜２０００ミクロン、好ましくは２０〜１０００ミクロン、より好ましくは４０〜３００ミクロン、最も好ましくは４０〜１５０ミクロンである。
本発明による揮発性物質を拡散させるための前記多層構造体は、バリア層と半透性層との間の適切な界面強度を可能にし、それにより、半透性層からバリア層を容易かつ確実に取り去ることを可能にする。
開示されたことをよりよく理解するために、いくつかの図面が添付されており、それらの図面には、非限定的な例として、特定の実施形態が示されている。
図１は、本発明の多層構造体の概略断面図である。
図２は、鉱物フィラーを含む、第２の実施形態による本発明による多層構造体の概略断面図である。

この多層構造体は、拡散器の、香料または殺虫剤などの揮発性物質を含有する製品の容器上に配置されるように設計されている。
一般に、参照番号１で示される多層構造体は、揮発性物質と接する膜として当技術分野にて知られている半透性層２と、拡散器の最初の使用前に揮発性物質の拡散を防ぐバリア層３を含む。
本発明によれば、多層構造体１はまた、半透性層２とバリア層３との間に配置された引裂層４を含む。この引き裂き層４は、初めて拡散器を使用する時に半透性層２からのバリア層３の分離を可能にする。
前記引き裂き層４は、弱められた異相層であり、そして異なる実施形態によれば、この層は、穴または細孔、カップリング剤を含まないまたは潤滑剤を含む粒子、または繊維を含むことができ、その層内部の弱い境界を含む。
前記引き裂き層４は、異なる材料の繊維、好ましくはセルロース、ポリエステル、ポリオレフィンの繊維から作られていてもよい。高い機械的抵抗性を有する繊維は、機械的に、またはより低い機械的抵抗性を与えるバインダーの使用によって互いに結合される。
あるいは、図２に示されるように、引き裂き層４は半透性層２と同種の樹脂でできているが、ミネラル充填剤を加えることによって若干の弱化領域が生じている。鉱物フィラーの重量含有量は、好ましくは４０％より高く、さらにより好ましくは６０％より高い。また、引き裂き層の製造工程の間、アクティブ化中の引き裂きをより容易にする大きな弱化領域を有するようにし、充填剤粒子の周囲に空洞（ミクロ孔）を形成するため、材料を伸張することができる。
前記引き裂き層４は、バリア層３と半透性層２の両方と接着することができる。この接着剤が揮発性物質に対して透過性である場合、層２と３の両方の間の連続層として設けることができる。この接着剤が、揮発性物質に対する透過性が低いかまたは全くない場合には、システムが一度アクティブ化されると蒸発を減少させないために、グリッドテンプレートなどの不連続層として半透性層上に設けられるべきである。
あるいは、前記引き裂き層４を半透性層２に直接溶接することができる。これは２つの方法で行うことができる：一方では、引き裂き層４が、半透性層２との高い相溶性を有するプラスチックから作られる場合、又、プラスチック製である場合には、カレンダー加工で直接溶接することができる。そうではなく、引き裂き層４が微孔性である場合、融着によって半透性層２に接合することができ、その結果、半透性層２の溶融プラスチックが引き裂き層４の多孔性構造の内側に入り込み、それが冷えると、機械的に結合したままの状態となる。
さらに、前記引き裂き層４は、揮発性物質に対して透過性であり、モノリシックまたは微孔性であり、揮発性物質の移動を制限しないことが好ましい。
前記バリア層３が取り去られた時、多層構造体１の最も弱い点は引裂層凝集力であり、引き裂き層４はその厚さの範囲内で破断し、その一部は半透性層２の面上に残り、その一部はバリア層３の面上に残る。
これは、微孔性であってもモノリシックであっても良く、織布または不織布から作られるバッキング構造(backing structure)を含んでも良い。
前記の半透性層２は、２０〜２０００ミクロン、好ましくは４０〜１５０ミクロンの厚さのモノリシック引き裂き層を形成するポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリウレタン、エラストマーポリエステル、ポリエーテルブロックアミドまたはシリコーンから作ることができる。
さらに、前記半透性層２は、２０〜１０００ミクロン、好ましくは４０〜３００ミクロンの厚さを有する微孔性ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンまたは超高分子量ポリエチレンから作ることができる。
前記バリア層３は、アルミニウムから作られたものが好ましいが、エチレンビニルアルコールもしくはポリビニリデンジフルオリドなどのプラスチック、またはナノ材料から作られたものであっても良い。このバリア層３は、酸化から保護するためのラッカー、またはバリア層３を機械的に補強するためのポリエチレンテレフタレートのような適当な材料で片面または両面上が被覆されてもよい。
以下に、前記引き裂き層の３つの具体例を開示する。
１．前記引き裂き層が、バインダーによって互いに接合されたポリマー繊維（ポリエチレンテレフタレートまたはセルロース等）から作られた繊維状凝集体であり、それは揮発性物質に対して良好な透過性を与えるポリウレタン膜と接着されている。
２．前記引き裂き層が、前記半透性層と同じ材料から作られ、当該半透性層の上に熱ラミネーションによって設けられる。この引き裂き層は、機械的抵抗性を減少させるための鉱物充填剤を含み、バリア層と接着される。
３．前記引き裂き層が独立気泡(closed-cells)発泡材料から作られ、この材料は前記半透性層の材料と同じである。この引き裂き層は前記半透性層の上に熱ラミネートされ、バリア層に接着される。
本発明の特定の実施形態について述べられていたとしても、添付の請求の範囲によって規定される保護の範囲から逸脱することなく、多層構造体は多数の変形および変更が可能であり、引用されたすべての詳細は他の技術的に等価なものによって置き換え可能であることは当業者にとって明らかである。
Claims (11)
- 揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）で、当該多層構造体が、揮発性物質と接触することができる半透性層（２）と、前記多層構造体（１）から取り去られる前に前記揮発性物質の拡散を防ぐためのバリア層（３）とを含むものにおいて、前記多層構造体が、前記バリア層（３）と前記半透性層（２）との間に配置された引き裂き層（４）をさらに含み、当該引き裂き層（４）が、前記バリア層（３）が前記多層構造体（１）から取り去られる時に前記半透性層（２）からの前記バリア層（３）の分離を可能にし、前記引き裂き層（４）が、バインダーによって互いに接合されたポリマー繊維から作られた繊維状凝集体であり、当該繊維状凝集体が、揮発性物質に対して透過性を与えるポリウレタン膜と接着されていることを特徴とする、揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が、アクティブ化後に半透膜およびバリア層の両方の上に部分的に残る異相層であることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が微孔性であることを特徴とする、請求項１又は２に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が粒子を含むことを特徴とする、請求項１又は２に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が、前記バリア層（３）及び／又は半透性層（２）に接着されていることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が、前記バリア層（３）及び／又は半透性層（２）に熱ラミネートされていることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が、前記バリア層（３）及び／又は半透性層（２）に溶接されていることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）が揮発性物質に対して透過性であることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散体のための多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）の厚さが２０〜１０００ミクロンであることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）の厚さが４０〜３００ミクロンであることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散体のための多層構造体（１）。
- 前記引き裂き層（４）の厚さが４０〜１５０ミクロンであることを特徴とする、請求項１に記載の揮発性物質拡散器用の多層構造体（１）。
