Description
熱伝導性プラスチック組成物は、ポリマーマトリックスと熱伝導性フィラーとを含む。一実施形態では、熱伝導性プラスチック組成物は、ポリマーマトリックスと窒化ホウ素材料とを含む。別の一実施形態では、組成物は、複数の熱伝導性フィラーを含む。さらに別の一実施形態では、機能付与添加剤が熱伝導性フィラーと共に使用される。
ポリマーマトリックス材料は、特定の目的または意図された用途に望ましいような任意のポリマーまたは樹脂材料を含むことができる。一実施形態では、ポリマー/樹脂材料は、熱可塑性材料とすることができる。別の一実施形態では、ポリマー/樹脂材料は、熱硬化性材料とすることができる。適切なポリマー材料の例としては、ポリカーボネート、アクリロニトリルブタジエンスチレン(ABS)(C8H8C4H6C3H3N)、ポリカーボネート/アクリロニトリルブタジエンスチレンアロイ(PC−ABS)、ポリブチレンテレフタレート(PBT)、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)、ポリフェニレンオキサイド(PPO)、ポリフェニレンサルファイド(PPS)、ポリフェニレンエーテル、ポリスチレンを含有する変性ポリフェニレンエーテル、液晶ポリマー、ポリスチレン、スチレン−アクリロニトリルコポリマー、ゴム強化ポリスチレン、ポリエーテルケトン(PEEK)、アクリル樹脂(例えば、アクリル酸およびメタクリル酸のアルキルエステルのポリマーおよびコポリマー)、スチレン−メタクリル酸メチルコポリマー、スチレン−メタクリル酸メチル−ブタジエンコポリマー、ポリメチルメタクリレート、メチルメタクリレート−スチレンコポリマー、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリスルホン、ポリエーテルスルホン、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリアリレート、ポリアミドイミド、ポリ塩化ビニル、塩化ビニル−エチレンコポリマー、塩化ビニル−酢酸ビニルコポリマー、ポリイミド、ポリアミド、ポリオレフィン(例えば、ポリエチレン)、超高分子量ポリエチレン、高密度ポリエチレン、線状低密度ポリエチレン、ポリエチレンナフタレート、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリプロピレン、塩素化ポリエチレン、エチレンアクリル酸コポリマー、ポリアミド(例えば、ナイロン6、ナイロン6,6など)、フェニレンオキシド樹脂、フェニレンスルフィド樹脂、ポリオキシメチレン、ポリエステル、ポリ塩化ビニル、塩化ビニリデン/塩化ビニル樹脂、芳香族ビニル樹脂(例えば、ポリスチレン)、ポリ(ビニルナフタレン)、ポリ(ビニルトルエン)、ポリイミド、ポリアリールエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリフタルアミド、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリアリールエーテルケトン、およびそれらの2以上の組み合わせが挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
熱伝導性プラスチック組成物は、熱伝導性フィラーを含む。組成物は、複数の熱伝導性フィラーを含むことができることが理解される。一実施形態では、熱伝導性フィラーは、特定の目的または用途のために所望されるように選択することができる。一実施形態では、熱伝導性フィラーは、窒化ホウ素、シリカ、ガラスファイバー、金属酸化物(例えば、酸化亜鉛、酸化マグネシウム、酸化ベリリウム、酸化チタン、酸化ジルコニウム、酸化イットリウムなど)、炭酸カルシウム、タルク、マイカ、ウォラストナイト、粘土、剥離粘土、アルミナ、窒化アルミニウム、黒鉛、金属粉末(例えば、アルミニウム、銅、青銅、真鍮など)、またはそれらの2以上の組合せから選択される。一実施形態では、熱伝導性フィラーは、低い導電率を有するか、または電気的に絶縁性である。
一実施形態では、熱伝導性組成物は、機能付与添加剤(例えば、シラン添加剤など)を含む。一実施形態では、シラン添加剤は、アルカリールオキシシラン、ビニルシラン、ハロシラン(例えばクロロシラン)、メルカプトシラン、ブロック化メルカプトシラン、チオカルボキシレートシラン、またはそれらの2以上の組み合わせから選択することができる。一実施形態では、熱伝導性組成物は、約1〜約5重量%のシラン、約1.5〜約4重量%、さらには約2.7〜約3.7重量%のフィラーを含むことができる。
他の実施形態では、フィラー成分は、それぞれのフィラー成分の1以上を含むフィラー組成物の一部として添加することができる。一態様では、フィラーは、窒化ホウ素、シラン、および任意選択で1以上の他のフィラー材料の混合物として提供される。
熱伝導性プラスチック組成物は、ポリマーマトリックスの約20〜約80重量%、ポリマーマトリックスの約30〜約70重量%、ポリマーマトリックスの約35〜約65重量%、さらにはポリマーマトリックスの約42〜約58重量%、および熱伝導性フィラーの約20〜約80重量%、熱伝導性フィラーの約25〜約65重量%、熱伝導性フィラーの約30〜約58重量%、さらには熱伝導性フィラーの約35〜約55重量%を含むことができる。一実施形態では、熱伝導性フィラー材料の全濃度は、約60重量%以下、約55重量%以下、さらには約50重量%以下である。組成物中のポリマーマトリックスの体積%(v/v)は、20%〜約90%、30%〜約80%、40%〜約70%、さらには35%〜約65%の範囲とすることができ、熱伝導性フィラーの体積は、10%〜約80%、15%〜約65%、20%〜約50%、さらには25%〜約45%の範囲とすることができる。面貫通方向熱伝導率は、組成に基づく理論的比熱容量(Cp)値を利用してレーザーフラッシュ法(ASTM E1461)を用いて成形ゲートから離れたASTM標準ドッグボーンのタブ部分の中央で測定される。面内熱伝導率は、ドッグボーンサンプルの平面内の熱伝導率を流れの方向または流れの方向に対して垂直のいずれかに測定できるようにラミネートサンプルを構成する面貫通方向の測定法と同じ場所からラミネートサンプルを構成することによって測定される。引張り特性は、Instron UTMで、衝撃強さは、TMI Impact Testerで、それぞれASTM規格D638およびD256にしたがって測定される。実験室規模の実験のために、配合はBrabender Plasticorderバッチミキサーで行う。配合されたサンプルを0.4mm未満に圧縮成形し、特別なサンプルホルダーと面内マスクを使用した修正レーザーフラッシュ法(Netzsch Instruments)を用いて面内熱伝導率を測定する。所与の組成物について、面内熱伝導率を測定する両方の方法は、同等の結果をもたらす。
このような組成物から形成された熱伝導性組成物および物品は、例えば、押出配合プロセスなどの調合、混合、および配合技術を用いて製造することができる。プラスチック材料の押出配合は、一般的に、押出機スクリューを用いてポリマー組成物を混合し、材料をダイに向けて搬送する。スクリューは、単軸スクリューまたは二軸スクリューを含むことができるが、これに限定されない。二軸スクリューは、共回転二軸スクリュー、逆回転二軸スクリュー、共回転噛み合い二軸スクリューなどを含むことができる。一実施形態では、押出配合プロセスは、二軸スクリュー配合押出機を使用することができる。
熱可塑性組成物およびそのような組成物の製造方法は、様々な用途に使用することができる成形品を形成するために使用することができる。物品は、特定の目的または意図された用途のために所望されるような様々な形態に成形することができる。一実施形態では、物品は、照明アセンブリ、バッテリシステム、センサおよび電子コンポーネント、携帯型電子デバイス(例えば、スマートフォン、MP3プレーヤ、携帯電話、コンピュータ、テレビなど)を含む様々な用途における熱管理のためのヒートシンク構造の一部を形成することができる。
下記の表4の実施例7〜16が製造され、Brabender Plasti−corder Batch Mixerを用いてナイロン5樹脂に配合される。配合されたサンプルを薄膜(厚さ約0.3mm)に圧縮成形し、面内サンプルマスクを用いた修正レーザーフラッシュ法(Netzsch Instruments)を用いて面内熱伝導率を測定した。
実施例17〜20は、ビニルシラン添加剤を含むおよび含まない熱伝導性組成物を示す。プラスチック組成物は、窒化ホウ素フィラーを有するポリカーボネート樹脂から形成される。組成物は、図3に記載されるスクリュー構成を用いた二軸スクリュー押出機を用いて配合される。窒化ホウ素濃度およびシラン添加剤濃度を表5に示す。
本発明の方法は、高い熱伝導率を有する組成物を提供することに加えて、優れた機械的性質を有する組成物も提供する。実施例21〜24では、フィラー組成物(必要であれば)3重量%のNXTシラン充填量で図3に示されるスクリューを用いて窒化ホウ素をPA6樹脂に配合し、先に記載したように射出成形した。表6は、組成物の種々の特性を示す。
実施例25〜26は、HCPL窒化ホウ素、酸化亜鉛、チタニア、およびシランをナイロン樹脂に添加し、Brabender Plasti−corder混合ボウル中で混合することによって調製される。表7は、樹脂の熱伝導率データを示す。
実施例1〜24は、混合または配合時にフィラー成分およびシランを樹脂組成物に別々に添加することによって調製される。
シランで処理した窒化ホウ素フィラーを、ポリカーボネート樹脂、ナイロン樹脂、またはポリプロピレン樹脂のいずれかに添加し、Brabender Plasti−corder混合ボウルを用いて混合する。窒化ホウ素は、HCPLグレードである。窒化ホウ素は、組成物の40重量%で充填され、シラン濃度を変化させる。表9〜11は、組成物の熱伝導率を示す。
混合されたフィラー組成物は、窒化ホウ素、酸化亜鉛、オプションのガラスファイバー、およびシランで調製される。シランはNXTである。混合されたフィラーを調製し、ナイロン6樹脂に導入する。樹脂に導入されたフィラーは、混合されたフィラーの事前の熱処理の有り、または無しのいずれかで導入される。樹脂に導入される前に熱処理されるフィラー組成物は、対流式オーブン中で、50℃で72時間熱処理される。表12は、組成物の熱伝導率を示す。表12の組成物は、Brabender Plasti−corderによって配合される。
ここで以下において、BN、黒鉛、タルク、炭酸カルシウム(CaCO3)、およびウォラストナイトを含む種々の組成物を議論する。実施例71〜82では、NXTシランを使用したが、実施例83〜87ではシランを使用しなかった。実施例71〜85で使用したプラスチック樹脂はナイロン6であり、実施例86と87ではポリカーボネート樹脂を使用した。
Claims (35)
- (a)窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせと、
(b)少なくとも40のアスペクト比を有するタルクと、
(c)チオカルボキシレートシラン、ブロック化メルカプトシラン、またはそれらの組み合わせから選択されるシラン
との混合物を含むフィラー組成物。 - 前記窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせが、5重量%〜98重量%の量で存在し、タルクが、5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在し、シランが、最大6重量%の量で存在する、請求項1に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 前記窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせが、5重量%〜40重量%の量で存在し、タルクが、60重量%〜95重量%の量で存在し、シランが、最大3.5重量%の量で存在する、請求項1に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 窒化ホウ素粒子、窒化ホウ素凝集体、またはそれらの混合物から選択される窒化ホウ素を含む、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 前記窒化ホウ素は、0.3ミクロン〜200ミクロンの粒径を有する小板を含む、請求項4に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 前記窒化ホウ素は、5ミクロン〜500ミクロンの平均粒径を有する窒化ホウ素凝集体を含む、請求項4に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 窒化ホウ素とタルクとの混合物の表面上に凝縮されているシランを含む、請求項4〜6のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- ガラスファイバー、ガラスフレーク、粘土、剥離粘土、炭酸カルシウム、マイカ、ウォラストナイト、粘土、剥離粘土、アルミナ、窒化アルミニウム、アルミニウム、銅、青銅、真鍮もしくはそれらの2以上の組み合わせの金属粉末もしくはフレーク、炭素、黒鉛、アルミニウム、銅、青銅、真鍮、炭化ケイ素、窒化ケイ素、窒化アルミニウム、アルミナ、酸化亜鉛もしくはそれらの2以上の組み合わせのファイバーもしくはウィスカー、カーボンナノチューブ、グラフェン、窒化ホウ素ナノチューブ、窒化ホウ素ナノシート、酸化亜鉛ナノチューブ、またはそれらの2以上の組み合わせから選択される追加のフィラー成分をさらに含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 2重量%〜30重量%の量のウォラストナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせをさらに含む、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- フィラーは、L*、a*、b*スケール上の色を有し、L*は90より大きく、a*は−1.3〜1.3であり、b*は−2.5〜2.5である、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- タルクは、少なくとも50のアスペクト比を有する、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量で存在する窒化ホウ素および黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとの混合物を含む、請求項1または4〜11のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量で存在する窒化ホウ素および黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランと、(d)0.1重量%〜60重量%の量のウォラソナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせとの混合物を含む、請求項1または4〜11のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量の窒化ホウ素と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとの混合物を含む、請求項1または4〜11のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量の黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとの混合物を含む、請求項1または4〜11のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 熱伝導性組成物であって、
樹脂材料と、
前記ポリマー材料内に分散された熱伝導性フィラー組成物とを含み、前記熱伝導性フィラー組成物は、
(a)窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせと、
(b)少なくとも40のアスペクト比を有するタルクと、
(c)チオカルボキシレートシラン、ブロック化メルカプトシラン、またはそれらの組み合わせから選択されるシラン
との混合物を含み、熱伝導性組成物は、2W/mK以上の面内熱伝導率、0.9W/mK以上の面貫通方向熱伝導率、またはそれらの両方を有する熱伝導性組成物。 - 3.0W/mK以上の面内熱伝導率を有する、請求項16に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 5W/mK以上の面内熱伝導率を有する、請求項16に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記組成物の総重量の58重量%以下の全熱伝導性フィラー濃度を含む、請求項16〜18のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記組成物の40体積%(v/v)以下の全熱伝導性フィラー含有量を有する、請求項16〜18のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記熱伝導性組成物は、5重量%〜95重量%の量で存在する窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせと、5重量%〜95重量%の量で存在するタルクと、0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとを含む、請求項16〜20のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記熱伝導性組成物は、ガラスファイバー、ガラスフレーク、粘土、剥離粘土、炭酸カルシウム、マイカ、ウォラストナイト、アルミナ、窒化アルミニウム、アルミニウム、銅、青銅、真鍮もしくはそれらの2以上の組み合わせの金属粉末もしくはフレーク、炭素、黒鉛、アルミニウム、銅、青銅、真鍮、炭化ケイ素、窒化ケイ素、窒化アルミニウム、アルミナ、酸化亜鉛もしくはそれらの2以上の組み合わせのファイバーもしくはウィスカー、カーボンナノチューブ、グラフェン、窒化ホウ素ナノチューブ、窒化ホウ素ナノシート、酸化亜鉛ナノチューブ、またはそれらの2以上の組み合わせから選択される追加のフィラー成分をさらに含む、請求項16〜21のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記熱伝導性組成物は、0重量%〜60重量%の量のウォラストナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせをさらに含む、請求項16〜22のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量で存在する窒化ホウ素および黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとの混合物を含む、請求項16〜20または22または23のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量で存在する窒化ホウ素および黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランと、(d)0.1重量%〜60重量%の量のウォラソナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせとの混合物を含む、請求項16〜20または22または23のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量の窒化ホウ素と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとの混合物を含む、請求項16〜20または22または23のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜98重量%の量の黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜80重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランとの混合物を含む、請求項16〜20または22または23のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 窒化ホウ素粒子、窒化ホウ素凝集体、またはそれらの混合物から選択された窒化ホウ素を含む、請求項16〜26のいずれか1項に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記組成物の5重量%〜41重量%の窒化ホウ素濃度を含む、請求項28に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- 前記組成物の5重量%〜60重量%の窒化ホウ素濃度を含む、請求項28に記載の熱伝導性組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜95重量%の窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせと、
(b)5重量%〜95重量%の、少なくとも40のアスペクト比を有するタルクと、
(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の、チオカルボキシレートシラン、ブロック化メルカプトシラン、またはそれらの組み合わせから選択されるシランと、
(d)0.1重量%〜60重量%のウォラストナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせとの混合物を含むフィラー組成物。 - 前記窒化ホウ素、黒鉛、またはそれらの組み合わせは、5重量%〜95重量%の量で存在し、前記タルクは、5重量%〜95重量%の量で存在し、前記シランは、1重量%〜3.5重量%の量で存在し、前記ウォラストナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせは、1重量%〜30重量%の量で存在する、請求項31に記載のフィラー組成物。
- (a)5重量%〜95重量%の量で存在する窒化ホウ素および黒鉛と、(b)5重量%〜95重量%の量で存在するタルクと、(c)0.1重量%〜6重量%の量で存在するシランと、0.1重量%〜60重量%の量で存在するウォラソナイト、炭酸カルシウム、またはそれらの組み合わせとの混合物を含む、請求項31に記載のフィラー組成物。
- 窒化ホウ素粒子、窒化ホウ素凝集体、またはそれらの組み合わせから選択された窒化ホウ素を含む、請求項31〜33のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物
- 窒化ホウ素を含み、シランは、窒化ホウ素とタルクとの混合物上に凝縮される、請求項31〜34のいずれか1項に記載のフィラー組成物。
