Description
本発明の表示装置1は、入力画像のダイナミックレンジのうち表示装置1に階調性を有して表示される範囲である表示レンジと、表示装置1に表示される輝度の最大値とに基づいて、基準となる明るさを示す信号値が表示される輝度を示す情報を表示する。
なお、入力画像は、各画素に対して、絶対輝度を示す情報に対応する信号値が指定されてもよい。例えば、入力画像の各画素の信号値はそれぞれ、明るさを示す単位(nit)で表わされる絶対輝度と関連付けられた特性情報に基づいて指定されているとする。このような入力画像のダイナミックレンジは、絶対輝度で表わされるダイナミックレンジである。例えば、入力画像のダイナミックレンジが1000nitであるとする。

Claims (16)
- 入力画像に基づいて画像を表示する表示手段と、
前記入力画像のダイナミックレンジのうち前記表示手段に表示されるダイナミックレンジである表示レンジに基づいて、前記入力画像を変換して変換画像を生成する変換手段と、
前記表示レンジと前記表示手段に表示される輝度の最大値である最大表示輝度とに基づいて、基準の明るさを示す情報と、前記入力画像のうち前記基準の明るさを示す信号値が前記表示手段に表示される場合の輝度である特定輝度を示す情報が表示されるように、前記表示手段を制御する制御手段と、
を備えることを特徴とする表示装置。 - ユーザの指示に応じて、前記表示レンジを取得する第1取得手段を更に有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- ユーザの指示に応じて、前記最大表示輝度を取得する第2取得手段を更に有することを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- ユーザの指示に応じて、前記基準の明るさを取得する第3取得手段を更に有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記特定輝度を示す情報は、前記基準の明るさを示す信号値のパッチ画像であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記基準の明るさは、前記入力画像のダイナミックレンジのうち、最大の明るさでない明るさであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記入力画像は、反射率を示す信号値で構成されており、
前記基準の明るさは、反射率18%、反射率100%、および反射率2%のうち少なくとも1つであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 入力画像に基づく画像を表示する表示手段を備える表示装置の制御方法であって、
前記入力画像のダイナミックレンジのうち前記表示手段に表示されるダイナミックレンジである表示レンジに基づいて、前記入力画像を変換して変換画像を生成する変換工程と、
前記表示レンジと前記表示手段に表示される輝度の最大値である最大表示輝度とに基づいて、基準の明るさを示す情報と前記入力画像のうち前記基準の明るさを示す信号値が前記表示手段に表示される場合の輝度を示す情報が表示されるように、前記表示手段を制御する制御工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする表示装置の制御方法。 - ユーザの指示に応じて、前記表示レンジを取得する第1取得工程を更に有することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の表示装置の制御方法。
- ユーザの指示に応じて、前記最大表示輝度を取得する第2取得工程を更に有することを特徴とする請求項8または請求項9に記載の表示装置の制御方法。
- ユーザの指示に応じて、前記基準の明るさを取得する第3取得工程を更に有することを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項10のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の制御方法。
- 前記基準の明るさに対応する特定輝度を示す情報は、前記基準の明るさを示す信号値のパッチ画像であることを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項11のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の制御方法。
- 前記基準の明るさは、前記入力画像のダイナミックレンジのうち、最大の明るさ以外の明るさであることを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項12のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の制御方法。
- 前記入力画像は、反射率を示す信号値で構成されており、
前記基準の明るさは、反射率18%、反射率100%、および反射率2%のうち少なくとも1つであることを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項13のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の制御方法。 - 請求項8乃至請求項14のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の制御方法を実行することが可能な演算処理装置で実行可能なプログラム。
- 請求項15に記載のプログラムを記録した演算処理装置が読取可能な記憶媒体。
