Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様に係る蓄電池用電極について、図2及び図3を用いて説明する。図2(A)に電極の斜視図を、図2(B)に活物質層の平面図を、図2(C)及び図3に、活物質層の縦断面図を示す。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1で例示した活物質、導電助剤、結着剤を用いて、活物質層202を含む電極200を製造する方法について、図1を参照して説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態2で示した製造方法により製造した蓄電池用電極を用いた蓄電池の構造について、図4乃至図7を参照して説明する。
図4(A)は、コイン型(単層偏平型)の蓄電池の外観図であり、図4(B)は、その断面図である。
図5はラミネート型の蓄電池500の外観図を示す。また、図6(A)及び図6(B)は、図5に一点鎖線で示すA1−A2断面及びB1−B2断面を示す。ラミネート型の蓄電池500は、正極集電体501及び正極活物質層502を有する正極503と、負極集電体504及び負極活物質層505を有する負極506と、セパレータ507と、電解液508と、外装体509と、を有する。正極503と負極506との間にセパレータ507が設置されている。また、外装体509で囲まれた領域内には電解液508が注入されている。
次に、円筒型の蓄電池の一例について、図7を参照して説明する。円筒型の蓄電池600は、図7(A)に示すように、上面に正極キャップ(電池蓋)601を有し、側面及び底面に電池缶(外装缶)602を有している。これら正極キャップと電池缶(外装缶)602とは、ガスケット(絶縁パッキン)610によって絶縁されている。
本発明の一態様に係る蓄電池用電極を用いた蓄電池は、電力により駆動する様々な電気機器の電源として用いることができる。
次に、電気機器の一例である携帯情報端末について、図9を用いて説明する。
さらに、電気機器の一例である移動体の例について、図10を用いて説明する。
上記実施の形態で説明した材料を含む電池セル(たとえば、実施の形態3で説明した蓄電装置)と組み合わせて用いることができる電池制御ユニット(Battery Management Unit:BMU)、及び該電池制御ユニットを構成する回路に適したトランジスタについて、図11乃至図17を参照して説明する。本実施の形態では、特に直列に接続された電池セルを有する蓄電装置の電池制御ユニットについて説明する。
まず、正極活物質としてリチウムマンガン複合酸化物の合成を行った。出発材料としてLi2CO3とMnCO3とNiOを用い、Li2CO3:MnCO3:NiO=0.84:0.8062:0.318(モル比)となるようにそれぞれを秤量した。次に、これらの粉末にアセトンを加えた後、ボールミルで混合して混合粉末を調製した。
電極Aの作製には、正極活物質としてリチウムマンガン複合酸化物、還元剤としてL−アスコルビン酸、導電助剤の原料として酸化グラフェン(GO)、第2の導電助剤としてアセチレンブラック(AB)、結着剤としてPVdF、溶媒としてNMPを用いた。まず、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物、GO、AB、及びNMPを混練し、第1の混合物を作製した。次に、第1の混合物に対し、少量の水に溶解させたL−アスコルビン酸を加えて混練し、80℃で1時間加熱することによりGOを還元し第2の混合物を作製した。さらに、第2の混合物に対し、PVdFを加えて混練することにより正極ペーストを作製した。なお、正極ペーストの配合比が、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物:グラフェン:AB:L−アスコルビン酸:PVdF=89:0.5:4.5:1:5(重量比)となるように、各材料の量を調製した。該正極ペーストを集電体(アルミニウム)に塗布し、250℃で加熱して正極ペーストに含まれる溶媒を蒸発させることで電極Aを作製した。集電体に対する正極ペーストの担持量は、6mg/cm2とした。
比較として、還元剤を使用せず、加熱のみによりGOを還元することで、比較例Bを作製した。まず、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物、GO、AB及びNMPを混練し、第1の混合物を作製した。次に、第1の混合物に対し、PVdFを加えて混練することにより正極ペーストを作製した。なお、正極ペーストの配合比が、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物:GO:AB:PVdF=90:0.5:4.5:5となるように、各材料の量を調製した。該正極ペーストを集電体(アルミニウム)に塗布し、250℃に加熱して溶媒を蒸発させるのと同時にGOを還元することで比較例Bを作製した。集電体に対する正極ペーストの担持量は、6mg/cm2とした。
作製した電極A及び比較例Bをハーフセルに組み込み、それぞれのセルの充放電特性を測定するのに用いた。なおハーフセルとは、正極にLi金属以外の活物質を用い、負極にLi金属を用いたリチウムイオン二次電池のセルを示す。負極にはリチウム金属を用い、セパレータにはポリプロピレン(PP)を用い、電解液はエチレンカーボネート(EC)と、ジエチルカーボネート(DEC)と、を体積比で1:1の割合で混合した混合溶液中に、六フッ化リン酸リチウム(LiPF6)を1モル/リットルの濃度で溶解させたものを用いた。
充放電容量を測定した結果を図18に示す。図18において、縦軸を容量(mAh/g)、横軸をサイクル数とした。充電条件は、定電流充電、充電レート0.2C、終止電圧4.8Vであった。放電条件は、定電流放電、放電レート0.2C、終止電圧2.0Vであった。サイクル数は、10サイクルまで測定した。図18(A)に、電極Aを組み込み作製したハーフセルのサイクル特性を示し、図18(B)に、比較例Bを組み込み作製したハーフセルのサイクル特性を示す。
図19に、電極A、比較例Bそれぞれを組み込み作製したハーフセルについて、放電レートを変えて測定した放電曲線を示す。縦軸に電圧(V)、横軸に充放電容量(mAh/g)を示す。充電条件は、定電流充電、充電レート0.2Cとした。図19(A)に、放電レートを0.2Cとした場合の充電曲線及び放電曲線を示す。また、図19(B)に放電レートを0.5Cとした場合の充電曲線及び放電曲線を示す。また、図19(C)に放電レートを1.0Cとした場合の充電曲線及び放電曲線を示す。
次に、電流休止法抵抗の測定を行うことにより電極A及び比較例Bを評価した。ここで、電流休止法抵抗について説明する。電池の充電の際、充電を休止すると、電圧が降下する挙動が見られる。この電圧降下の原因として、電池の有する内部抵抗が挙げられる。{(休止直後の電圧)−(休止3秒後の電圧)}/電流という計算式により、電極Aを組み込んだハーフセルと、比較例Bを組み込んだハーフセルの内部抵抗のオーム成分を求め、比較した。充電条件は、定電流充電、充電レート0.2Cである。充電の休止は、15mAh/g充電する毎に行うこととした。電池の充電容量が195mAh/g、210mAh/g、225mAh/g、240mAh/gに達したときに電流の休止を行い、内部抵抗のオーム成分を計算した結果を表1に示す。

Claims (2)
- 活物質と、酸化グラフェンと、溶媒と、を有する第1の混合物を形成し、
前記第1の混合物に還元剤を添加して第2の混合物を形成し、
前記第2の混合物に結着剤を混合して第3の混合物を形成し、
前記第3の混合物を集電体に塗布して、前記溶媒を蒸発させることにより活物質層を形成する蓄電池用電極の製造方法。 - 請求項1において、
前記還元剤は、アスコルビン酸、ヒドラジン、ジメチルヒドラジン、ヒドロキノン、水素化硼素ナトリウム、水素化アルミニウムリチウム、又はN,N−ジエチルヒドロキシルアミンの少なくともいずれか一である蓄電池用電極の製造方法。
