Description
本発明の塗料組成物は、アルミニウム顔料とマイカ顔料とを含む。アルミニウム顔料とマイカ顔料とを含むのは、当該塗料組成物が塗布されることによって形成される塗膜において、アルミニウム顔料により発揮されるメタリック感と、マイカ顔料により発揮される干渉感との両色調を示させるためである。
本発明の塗料組成物に含まれるアルミニウム顔料は、BET法による比表面積が55000cm2/g以下であり、その平均厚みが0.3μm以上であり、かつそのアスペクト比(平均粒径μm/平均厚みμm)が50以下である。アルミニウム顔料の形状は特に限定されないが、塗料組成物がより優れたメタリック感を奏するためには、フレーク形状であることが好ましい。
(なお、上記計算式(1)は、水面拡散面積で形成された膜を単一膜として捉え、この面積と比重との関係から膜を構成するアルミニウム顔料の平均厚みを求めるものである)。
本発明の塗料組成物に含まれるマイカ顔料は、特に制限されず、天然マイカ、合成マイカのいずれかから構成されてもよく、これらが混合されていてもよい。マイカ顔料は、好ましくは、マイカ(雲母)の表面に二酸化チタン、酸化鉄、コバルト、錫、ジルコニウムなどの金属酸化物の薄膜をコーティングしたパールマイカである。また、マイカ顔料の形状は好ましくはフレーク形状である。この場合、塗料組成物中に上記マイカ顔料とアルミニウム顔料とを特定の配合比率および任意の添加量で含有させることにより、塗膜中において両顔料は比較的均一な配列をとることができるため、それぞれの特徴である干渉感と輝度感とを両立させた意匠を発現することができる。
本発明の塗料組成物は、上記アルミニウム顔料と上記マイカ顔料とを含む限り、他の任意の成分を含むことができる。他の任意の成分としては、たとえば他の顔料、添加剤、樹脂および溶剤などを挙げることができる。
本発明の塗料組成物において、アルミニウム顔料の含有量(A)は、マイカ顔料の含有量(B)と等しいかそれよりも大きい。ここで、塗料組成物における含有量とは、塗料組成物中の樹脂固形分100質量部に対する各成分の質量部を意味する。
本発明の塗料組成物は、上述のように、アルミニウム顔料とマイカ顔料とを含む塗料組成物であって、アルミニウム顔料の含有量(A)は、マイカ顔料の含有量(B)と等しいかそれよりも大きく、アルミニウム顔料は、BET法による比表面積が55000cm2/g以下であり、その平均厚みが0.3μm以上であり、かつそのアスペクト比が50以下であり、アルミニウム顔料の含有量は、マイカ顔料の含有量と等しいかそれよりも大きい。
本発明は、上記塗料組成物により形成された塗膜を有する塗布物にもかかわる。上記塗料組成物は、上述のように、従来と比してアルミニウム顔料の含有量に対するマイカ顔料の含有量が低いにも関わらず、塗膜を形成した際に、十分なメタリック感と十分な干渉感を示すことができる。このため、この塗膜を有する塗布物は、十分なメタリック感と十分な干渉感とを示すことができる。
表1に示す特性を有するアルミニウム顔料A〜Dを準備した。表1において、D10、D50、D90は、体積累積粒度分布曲線における体積平均粒子径10%、50%、90%での粒子径(μm)を示す。なお、体積平均粒子径は、レーザ回折/散乱式粒子径分布測定装置(商品名:「Microtrac HRA 9320−X100、ハネウェル(Honeywell)社製)を用いて測定した。たとえば、D90は、縦軸が累積頻度(%)であり、横軸が粒子径(μm)である体積累積粒度分布曲線において、累積度90%の粒子径(μm)を意味する。また、「(D90)−(D10)」は、D90の粒子径の値からD10の粒子径の値を引いた値を示し、この値が小さいほどアルミニウム顔料の粒径のばらつきが小さいことを意味する。また、比表面積はBET法により算出される比表面積を意味する。
マイカ顔料Eとして、金色干渉色のマイカ顔料(商品名:「Mearlin(R) Exterior CFS Super Gold 2303Z」、粒径:7〜30μm)、マイカ顔料Fとして、青色干渉色のマイカ顔料(商品名:「Mearlin(R) Exterior CFS Super Blue 6303Z」、粒径:9〜35μm)を準備した。なお、マイカ顔料Eは金色の干渉感を示し、マイカ顔料Fは青色の干渉感を示した。
まず、アクリルクリヤー樹脂(商品名:「アクリディックA−322」、DIC社製)420質量部およびメラミンクリヤー樹脂(商品名:「スーパーベッカミンL117−60」、DIC社製)165質量部を、芳香族系溶剤(商品名:「ソルベッソ100」、エクソン化学(株)製)228質量部中に加え、ガラス棒で分散したのち、芳香族系溶剤をさらに加えて、フォードカップで20秒に粘度調整し、トップコート剤を作製した。
アルミニウム顔料Aおよびマイカ顔料Eのそれぞれを、塗料組成物中において樹脂固形分100質量部に対して11質量部(顔料固形分量)となるように、シンナー200質量部およびキシレン60質量部に加えてガラス棒で分散させた後、アクリルクリヤー樹脂(商品名:「アクリディックA−322」、DIC社製)160質量部(樹脂固形分の80質量部を構成)およびメラミンクリヤー樹脂(商品名:「スーパーベッカミンL117−60」、DIC社製)33.3質量部(樹脂固形分の20質量部を構成)とともに、ディスパーにて、15分間1000rpmで撹拌分散させることにより、塗料組成物前駆体を得た。そして得られた塗料組成物前駆体にシンナーを加えてフォードカップで13.5秒に粘度調整し、塗料組成物を作製した。

用いるアルミニウム顔料の種類およびその含有量、用いるマイカ顔料の種類およびその含有量を表2に示す値に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様の方法により、各実施例、各従来例および各比較例において塗膜を得た。なお、各含有量は、塗料組成物中の樹脂固形分100質量部に対する各顔料の固形分量(質量部)(PHR)である。また、表2の「アルミニウム顔料/マイカ顔料(比率)」は、塗料組成物中におけるアルミニウム顔料の含有量(A)とマイカ顔料の含有量(B)との比率(A/B)を示す。
形成された塗膜に関し、JIS−Z8722(2009)(色の測定方法−反射および透過物体色)の条件aに記載の方法に従って測定したY値から、JIS−Z8729(2004)(色の表示方法−L*a*b*表色系およびL*u*v*表色系)に規定されるL*15およびb*15を得た。具体的には、マルチアングル分光測色計(商品名:「X-Rite MA-68II」、X-Rite社製)を用いて、入射角45°、正反射方向からのオフセット角15°におけるL*値およびb*値を測定した。その結果を表2に示す。

- アルミニウム顔料とマイカ顔料とを含む塗料組成物であって、
前記アルミニウム顔料の含有量は、前記マイカ顔料の含有量と等しいかそれよりも大きく、
前記アルミニウム顔料は、BET法による比表面積が55000cm2/g以下であり、その平均厚みが0.3μm以上であり、かつそのアスペクト比が50以下であり、
前記塗料組成物中の樹脂固形分100質量部に対するアルミニウム顔料とマイカ顔料との総含有量が、5質量部以上20質量部以下である、塗料組成物。 - 前記アルミニウム顔料の含有量Aと前記マイカ顔料の含有量Bとの比A/Bは1以上5以下である、請求項1に記載の塗料組成物。
- 請求項1または2に記載の塗料組成物により形成された塗膜を有する塗布物。
