Description
摩擦力は、スペーサの接触面積が大きくなると増大すると考えられる。図12は従来例におけるTFT基板100と対向基板200がずれたことに対する復元力とスペーサ間の摩擦力の関係を示すグラフである。図12において、横軸はTFT基板100と対向基板200のずれ量であり、縦軸は復元力あるいは摩擦力である。
Claims (9)
- 走査線と映像信号線とで囲まれた領域に画素と、
平面視において、長軸を有する第1のスペーサと、が形成されたTFT基板と、
平面視において、長軸を有する第2のスペーサが形成され、前記TFT基板と対向する対向基板と、
前記TFT基板と前記対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置であって、
前記第1のスペーサは、前記長軸方向に幅が一定である第1の中央部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第1の傾斜部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第2の傾斜部と、を有し、
前記第2のスペーサは、前記長軸方向に幅が一定である第2の中央部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第3の傾斜部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第4の傾斜部と、を有し、
前記第1の中央部及び前記第2の中央部は、断面視において、高さが一定であり、
前記第1の傾斜部及び前記第2の傾斜部は、断面視において、前記第1の中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって、高さが小さくなり、
前記第3の傾斜部及び第4の傾斜部は、断面視において、前記第1の中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって、高さが小さくなり、
前記第1のスペーサの前記長軸と前記第2のスペーサの前記長軸とは90度の角度をなしており、
前記第1のスペーサと前記第2のスペーサによって、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔が規定されており、
前記第1の傾斜部及び前記第2の傾斜部の前記長軸方向の長さは、前記第1の中央部の前記長軸方向の長さよりも長く、
前記第3の傾斜部及び前記第4の傾斜部の前記長軸方向の長さは、前記第2の中央部の前記長軸方向の長さよりも長いことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記TFT基板と前記対向基板とが位置ずれしていない場合には、前記第1のスペーサの前記中央部と前記第2のスペーサの前記中央部とが対向していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサは前記走査線と前記映像信号線の交差部に形成され、前記第1のスペーサの長軸は前記走査線の延在方向であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサの前記中央部の高さと前記第2のスペーサの前記中央部の高さは同じであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2のスペーサの前記中央部の高さは前記第1のスペーサの前記中央部の高さよりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサを平面でみた場合、前記中央部の幅をd1とし、前記長軸方向の前記第1の傾斜部および前記第2の傾斜部の前記端部の幅をd2とした場合、d1/3≦d2<d1であり、
前記第2のスペーサを平面でみた場合、前記中央部の幅をd3とし、前記長軸方向の前記第3の傾斜部および前記第4の傾斜部の前記端部の幅をd4とした場合、d3/3≦d4<d3であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記d1と前記d3は等しく、前記d2と前記d4は等しいことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサを断面でみた場合、前記中央部の高さをh1とし、前記長軸方向の前記第1の傾斜部および前記第2の傾斜部の前記端部の高さをh2とした場合、h1/3≦h2<h1であり、
前記第2のスペーサを断面でみた場合、前記中央部の幅をh3とし、前記長軸方向の前記第3の傾斜部および前記第4の傾斜部の前記端部の幅をh4とした場合、h3/3≦h4<h3であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記h1と前記h3は等しく、前記h2と前記h4は等しいことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
