Abstract
【解決手段】TFT基板には、平面で見て、走査線方向に長軸を有する異形8角形であり、断面の中央部が平坦であり、両脇に傾斜部を有する第1のスペーサ10が形成され、対向基板20には、走査線と直角方向に長軸を有する異形8角形であり、断面の中央部が平坦であり、両脇に傾斜部を有する第2のスペーサ20が形成され、該TFT基板と該対向基板の間隔は第1のスペーサ10と第2のスペーサ20によって規定されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。

Description
摩擦力は、スペーサの接触面積が大きくなると増大すると考えられる。図12は従来例におけるTFT基板100と対向基板200がずれたことに対する復元力とスペーサ間の摩擦力の関係を示すグラフである。図12において、横軸はTFT基板100と対向基板200のずれ量であり、縦軸は復元力あるいは摩擦力である。
Claims (9)
- 走査線と映像信号線とで囲まれた領域に画素が形成されたTFT基板と対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置であって、
前記TFT基板には、平面で見て、長軸を有し、前記長軸方向に幅が一定である中央部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第1の傾斜部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第2の傾斜部と、
断面で見て、高さが一定である中央部と前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって高さが小さくなる第1の傾斜部と前記中央部から高さが小さくなる第2の傾斜部を有する第1のスペーサが形成され、
前記対向基板には、平面で見て、長軸を有し、前記長軸方向に幅が一定である中央部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第3の傾斜部と、前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって幅が小さくなる第4の傾斜部と、
断面で見て、高さが一定である中央部と前記中央部から前記長軸方向の端部に向かって高さが小さくなる第3の傾斜部と前記中央部から高さが小さくなる第4の傾斜部を有する第2のスペーサが形成され、
前記第1のスペーサの前記長軸と前記第2のスペーサの前記長軸とは90度の角度をなしており、
前記第1のスペーサと前記第2のスペーサによって、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔が規定されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記TFT基板と前記対向基板とが位置ずれしていない場合には、前記第1のスペーサの前記中央部と前記第2のスペーサの前記中央部とが対向していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサは前記走査線と前記映像信号線の交差部に形成され、前記第1のスペーサの長軸は前記走査線の延在方向であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサの前記中央部の高さと前記第2のスペーサの前記中央部の高さは同じであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2のスペーサの前記中央部の高さは前記第1のスペーサの前記中央部の高さよりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサを平面でみた場合、前記中央部の幅をd1とし、前記長軸方向の前記第1の傾斜部および前記第2の傾斜部の前記端部の幅をd2とした場合、d1/3≦d2<d1であり、
前記第2のスペーサを平面でみた場合、前記中央部の幅をd3とし、前記長軸方向の前記第3の傾斜部および前記第4の傾斜部の前記端部の幅をd4とした場合、d3/3≦d4<d3であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記d1と前記d3は等しく、前記d2と前記d4は等しいことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のスペーサを断面でみた場合、前記中央部の高さをh1とし、前記長軸方向の前記第1の傾斜部および前記第2の傾斜部の前記端部の高さをh2とした場合、h1/3≦h2<h1であり、
前記第2のスペーサを断面でみた場合、前記中央部の幅をh3とし、前記長軸方向の前記第3の傾斜部および前記第4の傾斜部の前記端部の幅をh4とした場合、h3/3≦h4<h3であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記h1と前記h3は等しく、前記h2と前記h4は等しいことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
