Description
まず、図1に基づいてエンジン制御システムの概略構成を説明する。
内燃機関であるエンジン11の吸気管12には、モータ13によって開度調節されるスロットルバルブ14と、このスロットルバルブ14の開度であるスロットル開度を検出するスロットル開度センサ15とが設けられている。
図2に示す排気浄化システムは、NOX 吸蔵触媒1の上流側と下流側に、それぞれ排出ガスの温度を検出する温度センサ2,3が配置され、NOX 吸蔵触媒1の下流側に、排出ガスのNOX 濃度を検出するNOX センサ4が配置されている。図3に示す試験結果において、流入ガス温度は、上流側の温度センサ2で検出した排出ガスの温度であり、流出ガス温度は、下流側の温度センサ3で検出した排出ガスの温度である。また、流出ガス温度と流入ガス温度との差を触媒温度上昇量としている。
図4に示す排気浄化制御ルーチンは、ECU30の電源オン期間中に所定周期で繰り返し実行され、特許請求の範囲でいう判定部及び制御部としての役割を果たす。本ルーチンが起動されると、まず、ステップ101で、排出ガス温度が所定範囲内であるか否かを判定する。ここで、排出ガス温度は、上流側温度センサ22で検出した流入ガス温度又は下流側温度センサ23で検出した流出ガス温度とする。また、所定範囲は、NOX 吸蔵触媒21でNOX を吸蔵可能な温度範囲(例えば250〜400℃)に設定されている。
触媒温度上昇量=流出ガス温度−流入ガス温度
このステップ105で、触媒温度上昇量が最大値に達していない(つまり触媒発熱量が最大値に達していない)と判定された場合には、上記ステップ103に戻り、触媒温度上昇量を求める処理を繰り返す。
Claims (8)
- 内燃機関(11)の排出ガス中の所定成分を吸蔵材と反応させる吸蔵反応により吸蔵する吸蔵触媒(21)を備えた内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記吸蔵反応の状態に応じて変化する情報を検出するセンサ(23)と、
前記センサの出力に基づいて前記吸蔵触媒の吸蔵量が飽和に近付いて前記吸蔵反応が減少傾向になる状態(以下「飽和直前状態」という)を判定する判定部(30)と、を備え、
前記センサは、前記吸蔵反応の状態に応じて変化する情報として、前記吸蔵反応による発熱量に応じて変化する温度を検出する温度センサであることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記判定部は、前記温度センサの出力に基づいて前記吸蔵反応による発熱量が最大値又は所定の閾値に達したと判定したときに前記飽和直前状態と判定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記温度センサは、前記吸蔵触媒のうち前記排出ガスの流れ方向で最下流部よりも上流側に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記吸蔵触媒は、前記排出ガスの流れ方向で上流側部分(21a)と下流側部分(21b)とに分割され、該上流側部分と該下流側部分との間に前記温度センサを配置するための隙間(31)が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記吸蔵触媒は、前記排出ガスの流れ方向で最下流部よりも上流側に前記温度センサを配置するための穴(33)が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記温度センサは、所定以上の耐振性を有するものが用いられることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記吸蔵触媒は、前記排出ガスの空燃比がリーンのときに前記所定成分としてNOX を吸蔵するNOX 吸蔵触媒であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記判定部により前記飽和直前状態と判定されたときに、前記排出ガスの空燃比をリッチにして前記NOX 吸蔵触媒に吸蔵されているNOX を放出して還元するリッチパージを実施する制御部(30)を備えていることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
